Yep, got to agree. That has impressed me. I stand by what I said but kudos to you Jingles for replying in a forthright and measured way.

Jingles has over 191k subscribers and his videos typically achieve 60k+ views (Elite vids seem to get around 30k)
Edge has a circulation of around 25k dwindling quite fast.
Does anyone else wonder why prominent YouTuber's don't get courted in the same way print media does with free Alpha access for example? If I were at Frontier I'd be looking at those numbers with serious interest. I know DayZ were very active in supporting live streams and YouTube and I think it pays off.

Enjoy it while it lasts. We're in the honeymoon period right now where the only people posting are the ones who love the game and have put their money where their mouths are. The ironic thing about achieving mass market popularity is that while it pays the bills you have to also put up with the masses being part of your market. Just look at what a festering hive of scum and villainy the World of Tanks and War Thunder communities have become. Hard to believe that when they were in closed alpha and beta that the communities were just as passionate as this one.
I do actually feel guilty knowing that while I might actually be helping to promote ED, that very act of promotion is also going to directly contribute to the degradation of the community. Such is the price of popularity.

If you look at Star Citizen you can see it change drastically from the beginning of 2013 and now. Unfortunately the same thing will inevitably happen with Elite Dangerous too.

The PBF and DDF should be nice little oases from the virulent hordes! I'm hoping they upgrade the forum software so you can effectively ignore entire forums and sub-forums when you click the "New Posts" link. I wouldn't use that initially but I can imagine it becoming desirable to retreat into the comfort of the PBF/DDF at some point.

Thought provoking point and i agree, i hope the fact that ED is not free to play can filter some of the scum. The other plus is that ED and the Elite genre in general seems to me made up of a lot older and therefore more mature players.
I wouldn't like to think its all doom and gloom ahead for this community.
Interesting observation though mate.
Not sure about other games but he does know WOT inside out. I've watched a huge amount of his stuff and learned a lot.
Comes across as a thoroughly honest and decent bloke, hope he keeps posting here. If his record is anything to go by it won't be long before he is quoting the scanner range of the Fer de Lance to five decimal places...
Here's hoping the ED player base does not degenerate as far as WOT has done. There seem to be a lot of aggressive and brainless adolescents on there, fortunately most people here seem to be at the other end of the hair spectrum (ie loss rather than unexpected new growth!)
