Ok, C&P is getting annoying. I can't get rid of a bounty.

I have a 66k bounty in FELICIA WINTERS. Yes, that's what it says. Whenever I enter V886 Centauri it says I'm wanted. I check the contacts page to pay it off, but there is no bounty. I go to an interstellar faction, but there is no bounty to pay off. My notoriety is 0. I checked all my ships and modules, but there is no bounty! I have normal access to the station, and for the life of me I can't seem to get rid of this bounty!

Is this a bug?

At all?! That's ridiculous!

I believe they're there as an incentive for other players involved in PP to bring you to justice for a few extra credits.

They don't stop you from accessing anything in the game, they're just there as a little extra to entice other players.

This is what I think of that:

Hudson: That's great. That's just *swear*ing great, man. Now what the *swear* are we supposed to do? We're in some real pretty *swear* now, man!

Hudson: That's it! Game over, man! Game over! What the *swear* are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?

And if I have bounty with a powerplayer and want to work for that powerplayer I'm *****ed?

I understand that they want to add incentive to stuff and think up good game mechanics... but they are bad at it.

Switch off engines in space, you slow down in space.
Enemy NPCs have no issues with module damage while you get malfunctions after just a few missing %.
And now fines/bounties cannot be paid.

All design choice (flaw), not a bug apparently.

Sorry but such things are to be tested on the beta servers, and then AXED. Are there no testers or something?

"Power bounties" are meant to be separate from C & P.

A power bounty just sits there, but there have been problems reported with the mechanics since the 3.0 update e.g. increased notoriety, hot ships, etc. (all of which is only meant to apply to C & P outside PP). Some interesting questions have been raised by other players e.g. what happens to a power bounty when you un-pledge? Later pledge with another power that is aligned to the superpower that was hostile? There's a thread on PP bounties in 3.0 that's worth a read. Power bounties don't appear to be something FD is looking at as part of the upcoming 3.0.3 patch.

My two cents. Don't have a problem with power bounties being sticky while you're pledged (with no consequence other than you remain a target for other PP players), but would be in favour of power bounties eroding over time if you un-pledge. In effect you've been forced to stop supporting the power and made to sit on the bench for a while. :)

Why should they let you work for them when you are assaulting their ships?! That's probably the only part of the game that actually makes sense. But I am not even sure if you can't pledge when you have a bounty with them...
