Horizons ok, i admit it....I'M IMPRESSED

Not sure why i was exceptical yesterday when i arrived at home, maybe because some of the screenies posted didn't have the quality i expected, maybe because, for me, looked like an early release and i thought i was going to find a lot of bugs, maybe because the performance threads...

So i logged into the game, after a small work with the controls config all my old bindings were working fine again...just in prevention of some frame drops i lowered the super-sampling from 2.0 to 1.5, (980ti here) and left everything in ultra... and started to play... 60 frames stable, nice, nothing new here, parked my FAS and took back again my stored DBS just in case if something goes wrong i don't have to pay a lot of insurance money, fitted the hangar bay, bought a SRV and headed out to the nearest planet base.

Well, i can't describe the nice feeling i had when i was getting closer and closer to the planet, everything ran smoothly, and the planet... looking more and more gorgeous as i was getting closer, i finally dropped from the supercruise, glide for some seconds and then, wow, a new game was in front of my eyes.. i was thinking all the time... this is incredible... how the hell they made it?

Then for a moment i went back to the end of the eighties.... when i was playing games in my atari800 , games like eidolom, iconi raiders, or rescate on mars.... those games were pretty limited (in graphics and content) and they only allowed me to do very few things and i always though, would be great if i could do this, or could do that., maybe some day, well i think that day has come, we can always ask to frontier to do more, in fact i have opened a couple of threads asking for some more deep in the game, but i and all we have to admit that Elite Dangerous is making history, and we are just at the beginning, i can't wait to see where this all go in their 10 years road development.

Thanks Mr. Braben and all the team.

Really is a testament to the quality of the team building the game. Very good job. Still some issues to sort but overall executed very well.

I agree. Whole thing looks absolutely stunning!

OP, if you are anywhere near the Sol, I would strongly recommend visiting Ariel. this moon won the awesomeness prize in my books, at least until I get outside the bubble.

thanks for the note... i will put it in my to do list. :)

At least you got the brains to switch ships.

I was like a kid in Christmas and went to the first planet I found in my 500m Cr Anaconda and the planet had 2.4Gs. I sweated all the way down.
But really, the experience is incredible and is technically astounding. The bar is set very high, FD cant breath easy now, they have to keep the mark high.

Cannot fault the visuals at all, all the :'( posts that I was reading on the beta forums truly were completely out of touch with reality. It's gorgeous.

A disappointing lack of combat zones on planets though, I was hoping to dive straight into wars happening at settlements (because they never happen at stations), unfortunately it looks like I'm still without my 'actual war' content where things other than endless ships get destroyed.

I like how Braben said during the stream yesterday that the focus this year was on gameplay though. Despite the headline features already being announced I am hopeful that they will be really fleshing out the gameplay for each profession, particularly giving some love to exploration and missions (especially naval ranking missions).

It does look fabulos, so much in fact that in some cases taking Screenshots isn't enough for me anymore. Just a snapshot can't caputre how awesome some places are looking so I take little videos flying above the surface and admiring the View :D
