Ok, is this mad?

Don't have a permit to hyper jump to Achenar so I'm going to SC it there from the nearest system (5.3ly away) and see what happens.

I've maxed out my Cobra to 2001C (4AU a second or Warp 9.6 in Trek terms) and the estimate says 21 odd hours.

Wish me luck! Ha!

You say that but DB said it is possible to SC from one system to another. It just takes a long time. Maybe that has changed but what the hell, I'm curious as to what will happen anyway. Do I meet an invisible wall, the system never resolves itself or what?

... DB said it is possible ...
When/where did he say this?

Anyway, the last video I saw shows someone approaching a navigation marker in space with nothing there. He flies around it to no avail...I can't remember whether he bothered to try jumping out of SC or not, but hey.

If memory serves he said it at the Premiere in response when someone asked him if it were possible.

I'm fully expecting to run out of fuel before then anyway.

Riff raff indeed. They don't come more so than I! Lol

How disappointingly lame if that is the case.

There is something creepy about that though. You are at the nav marker but someone has stolen the solar system!

Best pirate day ever!

I don't know if you'd run out of fuel. I recently SC'd to Hutton Orbital 0.22ly and it took no more than 5% of my fuel (Cobra MKIII, best FSD, biggest tank).

You can get to the location of other system using supercruise, there have been several people who have posted videos.
The problem is the system and its mass aren't there.
They get loaded during hyperspace.

I like how you wanted to argue with us saying it really isn't possible when there is, again, a long thread of people complaining about it with a video, just because "DB" said it would be possible. You should realize the game isn't complete yet and has many bugs still. It really behooves people to read and search before posting.. it really really does and I don't know why people refuse to do so.

The reservoir seems to be 0.5t so you should be able to refill it from a 16t tank 32 times.

The ship displays your fuel usage in the cockpit. My Asp uses 0.76/hour in super cruise, 42 hours on a full tank, so that's 42*2001c/8760 equals 9.59 ly max range. Of course if there's no star at the destination you're screwed...
I've tried flying out from a system, left it going for a couple hours. The game doesn't even update your position in the galaxy map, always precisely on the biggest star.

Someone in beta for to sol system from the closest point from within the pill we was in, when they arrived the system was empty. You need a session change to lead in the new solar system. This means a hyperspace jump.

Good grief! Has everyone lost their sense of humour!? I accept the game does cater for SC between star systems but I'm still going to do it because I want to see for myself in the spirit of exploration.

Anonymous forums really do bring out the worst in people. It's quite sad and I pity those perpetrators (you know who you are).

Go for it!
It was intended for SC to be possible between systems but it wasn't put in for release due to priorities - we weren't sure if the fuel mechanic would make it possible anyway and there were issues like, when do you re-draw the skybox and what happens if more than one player is near the midway point.
But I think it is still considered a bug that you cannot do this but just a really low priority one. So the more people who run up against it the sooner it might be fixed.

In the end I had to give up. I was indeed going to run out of fuel and with 2.5ly yet to go I had just enough fuel for a 6.5ly jump to the nearest system with a dock. Ships integrity when I docked with a station was at 0% which seems nonsense to me but no matter.
