I am going to have to put windows 10 on it.

is there a comprehensive step by step guide on getting SDK 0.6 (and therefore ED) working on a clean, brand new windows 10 install?

thanks. I know its meant to be a bit hacky but i am ok with that

am sure it is somewhere but if someone has the link that would be cool.. thanks

I recently installed Windows 10 I'm not very good with computers but there is a good work round on here. If I remember rightly I deleted runtime 0.5. Installed runtime 0.6. Then got to oculus runtime in your program files go to the x86 file right click go to properties on there there is an option to run in compatibility mode check the box and check the run as administrator. Then pop a short cut onto you desktop. Next switch of the oculus and run the shortcut then switch on oculus and away I went no problems at all. Sorry if it's not completely correct but there is full instructions on here somewhere

Congrats on the new PC,

I did the same 3 weeks ago and upgraded MB, Memory & CPU, fresh install of windows 10 on new ssd

The switcher detailed in other threads worked no problem however I'm running 0.5 not 0.6

I installed runtime 0.8 first then followed the switcher instructions and have had no issues however although I did turn off all the software and hardware updates within windows 10 before doing anything and have left them turned off for now

Holy cow that's some bargain,

I went with the same processor but with a Asus X99 pro & 16GB

Those M.2 / PCI-E ssd's are mental, looking forward to hearing how that performs

If your looking to compare stats in ED my cpu usage never goes over 25%
Idle temps 30c max 43c on Air that's with the DK2 or at 4K

i am using the gtx980 from my existing rig.

That will hopefully put me on till we can see what Pascal brings to the table.

yeah. My plan was to wait till skylake i7 prices have stabilised (price gouging due to shortages), only 4 cores but faster clock for clock and better over clocking potential.
but i just could not say no at that price, and the X99 chipset seems very tidy indeed, esp for if I ever choose to SLI.

who knows, hopefully multithreading will actually properly take off, in which case I will be glad of the 6 physical cores.

Stabilised?

p.s. nice price. Shame their prices are usually a bit higher than their competitors, I'd happily buy more stuff from them esp. if they offered free delivery - might have to spam their forums to get my post count >100 :)

some how i never seem to have issues getting my post count up on forums... no idea why. ;)

ps i edited my post above, i meant the prices stabilised due to the current shortages

ps they put another 10 machines back into the above offer,

ah ok. I am soooo pleased that I grabbed my 6700K when ebuyer had them up for just £280 and only about 20 in stock. Pats self on back, I'm not normally that lucky with deals. If I wait for the price to drop they run out of stock for weeks and I kick myself. Or I buy early and then a few days later they drop the price and I kick myself, as has happened 3 times in the last week. 3 times!!!
