Ok Ok... I have to admit that there's at least a new feature from the last update that I like (no kidding)

I like the new Main Menu in the hangar.
In VR I can see my ship from the real perspective, standing next to it. Many times I used the free camera to get this view and now it's a default view in the Menu, which I think it's a very nice addition.

I have to confess that since I have this new Main Menu before quitting the game I always exit to Main Menu first to see my ship. It makes me feel like I'm walking away from her.
Maybe for the next patch you could add a new background in case the ship is landed on a planet surface, so with the ship landed on a generic planet and an option to hide the menu so that I have a full view on the ship.

Maybe it could reflect more the type of station player is docked, if at all, but I suppose it's not that big deal and the menu looks nice. Still docking at Attilius Orbital every now and then, so it's not that big of a change.

Meanwhile there are others who complain about 5 seconds longer loading times for the new main menu.
I guess you can't please them all, that's a lesson on humility for everyone who thinks his complaint is the most important.

I don't use VR so I just see a static view of the ship in a hangar. It's not a bad idea but Id like to be able to move the camera, that might at least justify it being such a huge GPU resource hog.

5 seconds? .. thats more than enough time for DOOM!!!. Once it reaches Total war levels of loading times on Hdd then it feels more oldschool tape loader.

I feel ya.

When I close out a session, I like to have a quick look at my ship and my holo-me and my INARA profile.
And by the time I'm done it's another hour.

When you finish up doing a thing in your 3305 space ship you really feel close to your ship and your guy (or gal)

Actually what I have done is make younger versions of myself. So like my normal avatar is late 50’s, scarred, and grey haired, but I have one a bit less grizzled and unscarred and another one kinda “young dude”. I also made a female version of DNA-Decay. Maybe a wife or partner (or more likely ex). I dunno what their story is, but I can tell there’s history - and not all of it good.
I can tell because I made 3 versions, started at 60 and then did 2 age regressions. So on the load screen they line up above each other in ages, like they’ve known each other most of their lives. There's a story to be told there, but it's unwritten. Maybe when Frontier run a machinima festival comp after space legs drops.

My guy is not me. He’s “my guy”. I'm attached to him, and I definitely like him - but he's different to me.

I'll put this here to remind me to get a screenie from in-game. This is actually done with the Face App age regression. There's a huge jump in Elite when you move from "Veteran" to "Young Dude" and you don't look like the same person anymore, which is a shame. If they ever do a pass on the holo-me options, I'd love an age slider that could do something like this.

There's one wag on this forum who reckons I look like the Interstellar Factor in Bolg.

I don't see it:

You do, trust me. As for the loading screen, i like it as well. In fact i wish the orange ship spinning while the loading is actually going on was replaced with a view of your current ship, including the paint job and detailing of your vessel. But that's just me.

Call it lame, but I liked the old login screens more, felt more spacey seeing the unknown out there on the login screen alone. Ship is nice and all, but I can do those angles with free cam in the hanger myself....
I see your point.
In VR instead it was different. We had the very same view in the hangar but with a fixed standard Eagle and the SRV.

I like the new Main Menu in the hangar.

I like the new log in screen too...

In VR I can

Honestly, I was bored with old one. And I may think bit too much to it but it felt... inapropriate. ED is space game but login screen showed SRV on the surface with slowly rotating station in a distance. Hinting you're on the ground and will never reach what you see. Because SRV is incapable* of space flight. Kinda licking candy trough glass case.

* - which was proven inacurate as one CMDR managed to escape moon's gravity in a SRV.
