OK, salt?

Hello,
I have played Elite Plus but gonna play ED only on PS4. Over the Internet I've seen some weird mentions of salt in ED. What does it mean? Where did it came from? Because it feels like I've missed some meme, or what?

salt is basically the bickering and constant arguing that takes place on the forum and throughout the community. People take personal offense and spill salt.

It's a silly little meme refering to the 'salty tears' people cry when upset.

So if anyone posts something that shows they are unhappy about something (could be anything at all) you get the answer " You salty?" or, if they are responding to a provocation, the answer "Hmmmm Salt" is used.

I switched to:

It's much better for the blood pressure!

Confusingly,it can also refer to 'taking with a pinch of salt' the claims of others. The greater the amount, the more unlikely.

Most Salt-Miners i think are players, that rush trough games to an so called 'end-game'.
ED has no such End-Game. It goes on and on. Also ED has no quests or other prefabricated content like in SWTOR ore WoW.
Many players can not handle that. They loose themselves in grinds for Money or mats for Engineer or such things. Than they complain about it. And that are the salt-miners you heard of.

i play since release in December 2014 and I still have fun like on the first day.

As VampyrE said, most people who mine salt on ED are players who want your typical MMO end game while Elite never had one from it's inception. The "endgame" is what you want it to be(my endgame is going to be exploring the other 99% of the galaxy on my Type-6) but these people think ED is another MMO.

I think salt mining is our current mini game while we wait for release.

Going to the PC forum is a sure fire way to mine for salt. BTW, are people saying that "Star Citizen is going to destroy ED when it launches"? Because I've seen that type of comment on YT and in the SC forum but I'm wondering if it's been spotted on ED's forum

there will never be salt from me, just sugar and spice and all things nice. unless you up set me, then you will have to wait and see...

Not sure I could afford to play Star Citizen.

will this game kill that game, why is does everyone defend this game because it is dead. you get them on any forum and its usually trolls doing it to get a reaction, as for the other forum sections here the one that is most hazadous to your health is the Dangerous Discussions!

Quote from a survivor of the DD: "some say it is the place of the first complaint, others say it is the place all the salt is stored from the tears of unhappy players, all we know is if you enter you have more chance of leaving a black hole than leaving the DD alive."

that was a public health broadcast by the M.S.R. doing silly things so you don't have to since June 3303

Many, many times...

Star Citizen is a PC only game right? It's success could be a great service to the console players as if the consoles continue to buy Elite in whatever form and PC numbers dwindle we become more important. As long as we are economically viable, then it's all good!

seriously who cares about what game will take players, i mean i understand that star citizen is a good game i've seen videos and look very good. the big BUT though is that it only has 100 systems all designed and even though they look unique you could explore them all in a couple of weeks to a month, which for a exploration addict is really not a lot of time.

for me NMS is pokemon in space: have to spot em all, Star Citizen is COD in space: more pew pew than planets and Elite Dangerous is the balance between the 2. but thats just my 2 cents, which most people will say don't mean much in here ;)
