Ok, So Am I Going Crazy? (System Not Matching Up)

http://edtools.ddns.net/
I'm getting back into mining. Using this website, I stumbled upon what is apparently the second best place in the whole known game to sell Painite (Jones Hub in Kapoongzi), which I confirmed using a second website. https://eddb.io/commodity/83

Now this tells me the closest Pristine Reserves system with Metallic rings is at HIP 87968. It says the 5th planet should have a metallic ring.
http://edtools.ddns.net/?s=kapoongzi

But when I get to HIP 87968, it looks like this:
HIP%2087968_zpsmas5wunb.jpg

So I'm like......ok what gives. I do some googling and find this forum thread. This system is mentioned in the context of people mining rings there.
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/156428-Call-of-the-wild-A-list-of-pristine-metallic-rings/page92

So....what gives? Does anyone have any kind of explanation?

Did you scan the system yet?

This. The amount visible is classic "I forgot to scan but rushed into the forums to ask the question and now I'll read the responses and say oh god dang it".

Go to the Nav beacon and scan it, as this will also provide full system info, should a Nav beacon exist.

edit: hahahaha, don't worry op, I think most everyone has had that moment before. :)

I've never tried exploring and thus never used scanners. So what now? I go buy an advanced scanner and come back? Will I also need the surface scanner?

If you want to scan the system, yes you'll need a discovery scanner (advanced).

If there is a NAV BEACON then you can target it in supercruise and drop down, select it, wait for the scan to complete (about 10 seconds or so) and the entire system will be added to your map.

If not, then add an advanced discovery scanner, add it to a fire group and "fire" it till the charge completes and it honks the system. A detailed surface scanner is needed to list materials on a planet/ in rings, though.

Whichever is easiest.

Come on grandpa your glasses are on top of your head. Been there, haven't done that.....yet.

Not as bad as getting home, your house is locked, you forgot to try the key, call the lock shop, he arrives and asks did you try your key.

Scan the nav beacon if it's just for this one system. Else, yes get an Advanced Disc Scanner.

ninja'd :D

No nav beacon, so I'll buy both the scanners nearby, scan everything in the system, and then hopefully make it back to rebuy the modules I'm going to have to sell to make room.
Thanks a million.
