OK so i just bought a Cobra MK111 and have a question

If you're new to the ship and don't want anything too challenging at first your best bet would be the Federal Distress Signal near Eranin 2. Once you're a bit more confident there's a low intensity conflict zone just outside of Eranin 4 that you can check out.
EDIT: Now that I think about it I might have gotten the location of those zones reversed. Either way the Distress Signal will be at one of those two planets.

Put one ton of something expensive in your cargo bay and fly around a system; someone's bound to pirate you.
If you look on the galactic map, sometimes it will tell you that a systems security level is "Low" in which case you're more likely to find wanted pilots, or people who'll try to pirate you.

The Cobra is a great machine, it's perfectly fit for what you want to do: a little bit of everything 
Although, if you're just getting warm at shooting stuff, you might want to avoid that one for some time. But you should definitely kick some conda butts when you're confident enough.
It's worth noticing that many resource extraction sites across the galaxy spawn 40k+ anacondas, btw. So you're not stuck in the core systems.

Eranin 2 Low intensity conflict zone is a good start
