Ok so I took one of those 100k+ kill missions

And WOW!

I took it in kremainn, flew to the first in USS in potriti, saw a lovely chap in a type 7 telling me he's been seen in yakabugai. Fair enough, I flew to yakubugai, and in the second USS I checked out there he was!

I expected an elite anaconda, I got an elite anaconda, and it was quite possibly the most exciting fight I've had to date, I thought my little viper wouldn't stand a chance, but after dropping his shields with my beam lasers and focusing all my firepower on his powerplant I finally got him!

In total I used 800 rounds of multicannon, 3 shield cells, and 6 rounds of chaff, he didn't even break my shields!

Spent 3k on ammo, got his 34k bounty as well as 137k for completing the mission, and rep up through all the factions in kremainn.

Thank you FD, my legs are still shaking.

Well done.

Failed one of those yesterday, Adder versus Anaconda ( target was Richard Bayliss ). Kept myself on the shadow side of his turrets. A hell of a fight given my little adder is quite well equipped. After the 4th shield drop ( and no cells left I presume ) he got more agressive and trying to shun me from his blind side.

After a boost maneuver, which I followed, he tried a few of those before, he then rapidly rolled and pitched his bow opposite turn as I tried to gain shadow position again. Died pretty much instantly with the crash of both hulls.

But good fun.

I've taken out a few high bounty and level Anacondas in my tweaked Cobra. Unfort I didn't have a hunt mission, so didn't get the extra 100k+ creds... I love those battles.. nail biting, but tons of fun. I've also lost two or three ships ... watched them turn tail and jump out with less than 5% hull. In one instance 1% hull. *angry* LOL

Its in those moments that I wish it was practical to scan their trail and follow.. but its pointless with the way the wake scanner works currently.

If you can get behind the Conda, its going to go down. I took down one today in my Freagle. 1 beam laser + 2 gimballed mc. Just target that power plant.

After my confidence was boosted fighting off some pirates in larger ships (Asp, Python and low ranked Anaconda with Feds help). I thought I was ready and went after a 175K kill mission.

Soon realized that maybe a Cobra running stock guns and shields wasn't up to the job of killing an elite Anaconda. Managed to escape with my life and 12% hull. Now grinding mining an asteroid field to by some bigger guns. Still got 28 hours left to complete the kill, this time I will be better prepared.

Would be nice if the mission told you what Ship/s & Rank you were up against before you accepted.

well I had a very similar experience last night... up to a point. Everything was going swimmingly until I got my backside handed to me.

The Annie broke my shields before I could deploy the cell and he left me crippled without engines or life support as 3 security ships turned up.

I cursed and raged, then smiled and self destructed. This is the first time I felt Elite was really dangerous!

I was quite stunned but still enjoyed the experience. Next time, ill agro him til the feds turn up them move in for the killshot.

Yeah, a low ranked Conda maybe but the Elite Conda's in the kill missions are something else. Missiles, turrets, canons and lasers flying all over the place and a shield tough as nails.

Great story - if you take on a similar mission again remember that you can really mess up an Anaconda who has shields down with a volley of dumbfire missiles - even on a sidewinder you can shout 'Surprise' and unload a shock-volley on a bigger ship - expensive but worth it for a big bounty

For my 'aftermission cool down' I wanted to go and shoot at some NPCs, the first USS i dropped into had an anaconda, eagle and a couple of police units. My piloting is pretty bad and my setup does not hit all that hard. With the help (and the lives) of a few police ships, we managed to take down the beast in about 30 minutes of frantic battle, with me resorting to backing off and waiting for my shields, and using the police to soak up some of the fire.

In the end, we did make it though, Got it all recorded ;)

I personally liked my little kiss of the Eagle at the beginning. Warning, it is 33 mins long approximately ;) can flick through it, there are some good close passes where it looks like we are going in at ramming speed.

Small ships vs. Bigger ships is an easy fight. There are areas that you can hide at on his rear where the turrets / gimbals don't have LOS. Just maintain speed and alignment, and there you go.

Last night, took a 150k bounty in my Viper.
Found him alone in an Anaconda and we went at it, I try to stay behind him but my four cannons didnt have alot of DPS so it was a longish fight (few mins) at one point I miss read it and he streaked away turned and came at me knocking my shields off but I gave it to him good and at about 40% hull he ran, I wasnt able to finish him before he warped out :(

Half an hour later I met him again but it went much worse, We ended up toe to toe and I went from about 60% shield to ejected in about 10/15 seconds.

Leason learned, some tactics may be needed :)
