OK, this is getting silly, or Dude, where's the game?

...but now like Noctover said it's about advertising and revenue streams...

I admit, I've forgotten about advertisements ever since I started using Firefox, Noscript, and Adblock Plus.

My reasoning being, I've seen enough advertisements in a single year to last me a lifetime as it is - and there's more advertising being shoved in my face anywhere I turn the moment I step outside my home. So I really don't feel beholden to "supporting" anybody via third-party advertising, of which 99.999% is just mindless, extremely repetitive, and not even slightly entertaining/humorous until Superbowl season rolls around. Once you've seen an ad for a thing, you've seen them all, and it got old fast a long time ago for me, especially if you ever take a class that teaches you how to read between the lines in advertising.

In Djtruthsayer's case, the only "advertising" I've seen him do is genuine promotion of charity events and bringing proper attention to other streamers that may not be known so well.

In fairness, if I catch a streamer regularly taking breaks to run ads, it turns me off too.

I have monitized videos on YouTube, only coz why not, no ads etc. I used to stream on Twitch but no ads, no donations just for fun.

I had a friend who did it for money and donations, it became a job. Tuesday was "Mine Craft" night, he hated the game, he kept moaning about it and dreading doing it, but it made him more money so he did. Just the way things are now i guess, i play for fun :).

I thought that was by posting >10 times per day!?

It's not working for me so far :D

I know people that streamed professionally in the past - mainly covering FPS LAN tournies and it was pretty hard work for the return they got, but the target audience for stuff like this seems to be teenagers - time rich, cash poor. My kids watch all sorts of stuff that turns my brain to mush. The next Pew Die Pie is out there somewhere. As is the current one.

I am just old and dement probably. But watching other people play a game you play yourself instead of playing said game youself.. (no commas, Ma !!)
I would rather watch a video of other people watching a video watching me watching a video... (I am getting good, Ma!!)
But I will happily resort to writing silly comments on a silly thread about a silly topic starring silly people watched by even more silly people and commented by the sillyist of all... (Commas are highly overrated imo)

Cheers Cmdr's
VHS or Betamax? Oh wait, i'm commenting silly on a silly comment on a silly thread...ah to lazy and lost track ... yada yada yada.

My kid has the amazing ability to find the most obnoxious people he can find on youtube.

He by far and away watches more crap on that than he does the telly.
