Have a ranking system for commanders during a CG? Ok I've been doing the vennik terraforming CG since last Thursday and I've consistently kept myself in the top 5% but now I'm struggling it's obvious the CG won't hit its target and keeping myself motivated is becoming a real problem.

i can't be the first person to think of a league page showing which commanders are in which position mayb top 20 or 50 this would at least give players a motivation to keep plugging away in the hope of beating the next sucker in the que.

That's a tricky thing, some community goals have this, "top 5" commanders and similar or top commander, but not all, and it really depends on the goal, there are plenty situations where the overall effort is more important then making one person stand out over everyone else.

I've been doing the Heike Tea CG and I'll be either top 5 commanders or top 10%. Probably the latter as I've managed to become infected with the plague, which is impressive for immersion but not too hot for game play time as I've been asleep, a lot!

The rewards are minimal, I've been delivering 350 T of Tea per run for about 6.5 million profit but that takes a full days effort. The reward will be maybe a couple of million if I'm top 5 commanders. Much less for top 10%.

The truth is FD have to manage CG's because they can't always be massively profitable and succeed to the top tier. It just wouldn't be realistic and would actually destroy some of the narrative they're trying to create. I'm taking part in this one because saving lives is more in keeping with my Commanders actions even though others may well be more profitable.

EDIt - although to some degree it'd be nice to see a top commander per ship type.

I flew the recent "resources for a fed capital ship" CG that was similarly poorly paid. I was top 10% but I did it more for the fun tbh. It was dull at the start but when some Imp aligned CMDRS decided to interfere in the name of the Empire it became fun and immersive.... It's not always about profit or top status. I do know what you mean about staying motivated though. Before the Imp CMDRS showed up it was getting dull...
