Okay, so how do I find these engineers?

Okay, so I've got a bunch of materials, got an SRV, landed on a planet, drove around for a while (didn't really see much except for a small outpost).

So now how do I find these engineers that everyone is talking about? Is there some mission I need to complete of some faction I need to get in good with? I have no idea where to even begin looking.

I'm curious myself, as most of the starting requirements are, "you learend of "so and so" via public sources." I can tell you where an Engineer base is, but don't know if they'll let you in without being invited first. I have 5 engineer contacts. One requires that you have a rank of scout in exploration. She's currently working my Annie's FSD to make it jump farther. I'm out looking for supplies for these upgrades right now. Loving Horizons so far!

You should've got 4 or 5 Engineer invites when you first logged into horizons. Look on your right panel, there's an engineers button on the bottom, click it and you should see some.

Go to galaxy map, zoom out and see if you have any icons you have not seen before.
