Fly in anarchy systems. No speed restrictions there.
Yep even more fun at full throttle and Silent Running.... 12% hull left is my record there, not in a hurry to break that LOL. Forgot just how fast the Cobra was
I just about perfected looping between the struts at the end of a station in my Asp at one time I was doing it so often.
I think I've only ever hit one NPC and that was taking off as it was flying above me. I'm going to be more careful from now on..... Hmmm maybe.
I'm going to be killed in stations so often now... Ignorance was indeed bliss... The less you know![]()
Last npc I hit was when I was running goods for the Empire CG recently. Took off in my T9 which even has dirty drives for all the difference they make as well as military armour, as if it wasn't heavy enough to begin with. So yeah, gear up, four pips to engines and boosted towards the mailslot. That was when I noticed the other T9 which was coming in. Smashed into it at full speed, hardly deflected me from my course at all and took one ring of my shields as I watched the other T9 get spun round to his right and smashed sideways into the wall of the slot. I was still laughing about 10 minutes later.
As you say, the trick with the smuggling Asp was always to go low as soon as I got through the slot, corkscrew to increase distance travelled and then pitch up hard to loop inside the station. I always said if I didn't leave contrails in there I'd gone in too slow. I don't think I'll be trying it now though, Felicity has had her hands on my smuggling Asp and it boosts at over 450, think that might be pushing it a bit![]()

Some of you guys DON'T speed? I'm into the mailslot at a minimum of 155 in my Anaconda, practically bouncing off the comms needle in the back of the place in my Asp before I can get stopped. Speeding is where the action is!
T9... The one ship I had least interest in but now just intrigues me the most. My neighbour who also plays keeps telling me to get one.
It was always the sound the Asp made that did it for me! That engine sound reverberating inside the station as you zero'd the throttle and pitched it... Like a Merlin v12 on overrun! My Asp is the same, I thought the DD's improved the whole flight model? Just an assumption. Not had a problem getting it stopped though as I recall, not thought about it until now, hmmmm, time to barrel it into a station again. Might have to experiment. It's outfitted very differently.
I ended up fitting far more Narcotics in my Python. I rate that as a better smuggler now, it's flight model seems tighter than the Asp, less drifty, like a big tubby Cobra.
Why do you think you have lost an hour of your life? No you haven't. What is the objective of playing the game? It is to play the game - nothing more. Sometimes you earn credits in that hour. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes you get into trouble and have to play off bounties so the hour costs you credits. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes you earn bucketloads in an hour - but usually you don't. Losing a ship means losing credits - that's all. How will you earn that back? By playing the game - which is the objective anyway.
How..? How does this happen?
Ok, I'll be the first to admit, I'm a huge fan of the Docking Computer.. not because I can't land my own ships, I'm actually quite good at it, but because I've done it SO many times it's just tedious, and I love the 2001 homage from the docking computer.
But I've never hit or been hit by anyone else coming in or going out of a station. I have had NPC's jam past me to squeeze out before me, but even then we were still at least a full Viper IV apart. And speeding? I'm guilty. I've boosted out of stations, boosted into stations - once entirely by accident and only missed slamming into the back wall by fractions of a second and millimeters.
Probably the worst thing I've ever done is got my landing gear caught in the toast rack and really gotten myself tangled up trying to beat-the-clock before getting fined for loitering, but in my defense, I was sneezing something fierce at the time and didn't bother to let go of the controls. No harm, no foul.
Maybe I just don't frequent busy enough stations or my timing is off.
I also like going out the mailslot sideways... try that in your Anaconda some time!
Did you have a bounty already, and the crash fine maybe triggered the station to realise you was a bad man?
I am always getting fines for crazy driving in the letterbox and they have never opened for on me, mind you have never actually destroyed another ship in the slot.
