I dropped a vote for First Encounters, that came out in the days when I worked for a living, so I missed it... 🤣

Why not all 3 tho? GOG has an amazing Games Preservation Programme, the games are without DRM and all have offline installers available :)

Literally no negatives for having a game available for sale there!

I'll go back and do the other 2.
I have the original elite, with BBC emulator, free from FD... (I played that to death on the BBC when it was released)

I recommend you also vote for "Frontier : Elite 2" just in case FEE doesn't get enough votes, as it now has less than half what Frontier has, and those two are almost similar games.

Elite is quite well preserved, in a sense (and available from Frontier!) Frontier was a major upgrade (BBC micro -> c64 -> Amiga.) I have good memories of that, and we can get updated versions.
I completely missed First Encounters - I was also working, enamoured by Descent, plus how much framerate I could get from the Quake alpha (qtest) by overclocking. Very much worth preserving for the lore it introduced.

Yea these gems are absolutely worth saving, I missed original Elite in Finland myself (my first computer were Atari 520ST my parents bought me 1987), but happened to stumble on FE2 (and thus its next version FFE) by accident.

But I were one of those lucky few, and many others didn't even know these games exist(ed)!!
