old exploration data... (LOST...!)

dear devs...

please don't update the game again... I lost my all data at 2.2 update... at that particular update, u announced that "u will see all the stars that u visited"... it was a wonderfull moment for me to hear that but reality was a big disappointment... so I noticed, it is showing the stars that I visitred after the update... it was a thing at least... so I tought, "not so big disappointment, after that I ll see all of them"

then, u updated game again... and, I lost all visited stars data again... dude..! seriously... I gave my time to that data... how can u stole it from me just like that...!?!?

so... please dont update again or, consider that situation in the update...

Considering this can't have happened to everyone, otherwise it would have been widely know, have you opened a support ticket?

Are you on PC or on Xbox? If you are on PC, then it's probably a good idea to backup your visited stars cache in case a disaster happens. Mind you the recent 2.3 update would not have destroyed your cache file that is saved locally on your computer. There are a few reasons why it may not be showing, like the save folder hs changed, which means your visited stars cache is still around somewhere, just not where the game can find it. If you are on Xbox, then it's a completely different matter as you don't have access to those files.

I dunno if it is happened to everyone actually... but lets be sure first... I am trying to say that, at the galaxy map, I can't see "VISITED STARS" but I know that, if I can FIND that stars, I can see the entire system... that data is still there I guess... I konw it becuse, there are some systems that I TAGGED before update and I can see that systems...

Consider that the "solution" to the "can't login" problem that Frontier gave us was to delete all local data.

Why can't the game rebuild its local "visited" cache by querying the servers for which stars have been visited? I realize this could be intensive on the servers if all done at once, but if it the queries were done piecemeal as you scroll the galaxy map with the Visited coloration selected, then it should be possible without ruining the exploration server.

I don't think we can see "visited stars" pre 2.2 or whenever it was implemented. I know visited stars don't show on my galaxy map from way back but i can still open the system maps and see what I've tagged.

Since the release of the GalMap filter for Visited/Not Visited systems, I've used the filter option to visit those near my home system that I hadn't visited since they started tracking it. Recently I noticed my home system showed up as Not Visited. Looking around the GalMap, others I know I've visited since the filter was added had also changed back to Not Visited. Might be a bug or they only store the most recent X systems visited (not sure what the number X is if that's the case). Small issue for me so I haven't reported it.

I think your best option is to open a support ticket with the customer service and let them help you with it. If your old logs and journal entries are still available then you can rebuild the visited stars cache with their help. They are pros and very very very friendly. :D

At some point (I don't remember exactly when) the logs the game created had the name of the system visited by the commander. When 2.2 arrived the game read the logs and created the visited stars cache automatically.

The visited stars cache is created using the local logs and the cache file is stored locally on the system The server has no such information and hence cannot be used for such purpose.

That sucks.

As for solutions: Do you use any 3d party tools like EDD or EDMC? If so, you could export your visited systems from there and import them into ED. IIRC Dr. Kaii wrote a nifty little tool to help you with that 2nd step.

no I am not using anything like that... I always stick to the core game and consider all 3rd party as some kind of cheat... or may be spoiler... that is my considiration and I am not saying it is 100% correct idea... so I guess I cant do anything to restore that data except that ticket I send to devs. may be they have a solution... but thank u anyway for paying attention to my tread... :(

I am not trying to see all visited stars from way back... I am scaning systems like a TUNNEL and tagging only one system which is at MIDDLE of the shaft... so, when I picked that tagged system from the galaxy map, while "VISITED STARS" filter is on, I have to see all other system too right?.. but this is not the situation...

If you still have all your old netlog and journal files then you should be able to use this tool to generate an import file that will let you rebuild your visited stars cache.
