Newcomer / Intro old fart BIG problem.....

ok. I know this is making me look stupid but I no longer care. this is what I see when I look at my ship modules:

thrusters
life support
power distribution
frame shift drive
sensors
cargo rack (capacity:2)
cargo rack (capacity:2)

It looks like a blank space at bottom but who knows.
When I go to outfitting/internal I see this:

lightweight alloy (loaned)
power plant (loaned)
thrusters (loaned)
frame shift drive (loaned)
life support (loaned)
power distributor (loaned)
fuel tank (capacity: 2) (loaned)
cargo rack (capacity: 2) not loaned here as I obviously sold the orginal sigh
cargo rack (capacity:2) " " "
empty internal compartment

so it seems to me that those are what I have. there is nothing else. if I click exit I go back to the main page where I clicked outfitting. I am most certainly doing something stupid or at least wrong. It looks like I did sell the shields and the cargo bays but bought back the same ones. nothing shows for me to buy. please help me get this figured out. flame me if you must, I deserve it for sure, but help please.

so sell the cap 2 cargo and buy 4 ton cargo?? where? I do not see any 4 ton cargo in outfitting. what am I missing. have checked 4 stations in ervate so far in last 2 days. again I know it is me but I don't know why. :(
in fact I only see what I have nothing to buy.

Yes sell a 2 ton and replace it with the 4 ton. The trouble is they are not available at every station - you just have to grab one when you see it. So for now you are better off putting your shields back and using the bottom 2 slots for cargo. Or if you are short on money and/or cant afford the shields you could get the scanner back and maybe earn a bit of money that way.

Hard to believe your having trouble finding a 4T rack. They are almost everywhere. You're probably overlooking something simple. Sort your outfitting by Module Type then look at cargo racks. If you see a 4T just select and buy it. If you still have trouble, send me a PM and I'll meet you in the system you are at and walk you through it at an agreed time. Got some snowplowing to do today but should be online late tonight. Around 11PM EST

Click on one of the capacity 2 cargo racks and see if there is a button underneath that says "swap". If so select it and one of your empty compartments should change colour. If it does ok that.
Then select the now empty slot (hopefully a category 4 slit) . You should get a list of components to buy. Scroll down that list and at some point you should find a capacity 4 cargo rack.
It is possible there isn't one in your station but those racks are pretty common. If it isn't there try the next station. when I get online I'll have a look to see if I can work out where to go.

lol. yes I was missing something. I would click outfitting, then internal, and see what I had. I would click one of the empty spaces and not click the buy and install. I thought I needed to buy first then install. clicked it anyway the last time I went through the process, thinking what the hell, nothing ventured nothing gained. and lo and behold voila! I am really stupid or slow sometimes. hmm maybe both.
