Old Gamerz Unite!

not really. That thread asks how old everyone is. This thread already implies everyone is old lol

That said, it's really more of a comment about how video games "aren't just for kids anymore"

There's plenty of geriatrics that play video games for whatever reason. Because they're retired and bored or they want to keep their mind sharp. I say as long as you have fun :)

Personally, i'm getting to that age where i'm getting burnt out on video games. Without getting into it too much, i'm having a hard time finding a game i can enjoy for months and months and months and months on end. I'm only 28 and i find most video games released in the last 5 years to be absolute garbage. 10/10 would rather play paintball...outside...with real people

ITT: the two old people who still play games at each other's throats. Instead they should be bestest friends and playing Elite together, while fondly remembering that time they flew missions over Dunkirk. Feelsbadchaps :(

The BFV community I play with has an average age of about 43. One of the regular members is 74! loads of guys in 50s and 40s and few 20s and 30s.

Great group. From all over Europe and US

"Age".
At you age I only had a console and spent a lot of time with friends and I spent most of my income on traveling.

Now, 10 years and three kids later I found that gaming is the best hobby with the limited time and energy I do have. Gaming has never been so good as now, great strategy games, great open world games, and great multiplayer games... though I admit that many lost the charming simplicity of earlier online games, like GTA IV's online racing - simple lobby, ridiculously good action.

Although at 61 and at the higher age end of the gamer scale, I've found as I've gotten substantially older, my gaming tastes have certainly changed. Gone are the days of enjoying the adversarial, competitive pew fests of Tribes 2 and the like as I did a few moons ago...now a good story along with my gaming fix is my preferred option... things like RDR2, Witcher 3...those kinda things. I just simply can't be bothered with the endless chest beating competition bonanza any more.

Seems losing a bit of testosterone has granted me patience ;)

I'm 43 now but I feel like I'll still be playing when I'm 60+. I'm not much into TV, movies or reading so what else is there? Sure getting out into the garage or seeing real people is good too but that's not 100% of your day. For me gaming is an alternative to watching something dumb on TV.

Ocassionally I'm enjoying fast paced racing type games, but otherwise World of Warships provides nice competitive gameplay without the excessive speed. I think it has a fair share of middle-aged/senior players too, especially judging by the host of their YT shows. :)

I play with guys from 40 - 65 we all enjoy a good game a lazy Sunday, besides that I play when I got the time, but there are other things one can do beside gaming.

At 39, I just realized I have no gaming friends. Correction: one, but at 29 he recons he needs to get serious and he is gradually withdrawing from gaming citing lifestyle changes and stuff - and it's definitely not driven by his wife.

Why would anyone think older people don't play video games? We started it all!

That usually cracks me up. Younger generations are all...."what you are 30? aint you dead already?lulz" when you meet em in FPS or other multiplayer games but fail to recognize that its even older people providing all the games they find so "awesomesauce" :)

When I started gaming there was no internet and multiplayer was called LAN-party. I was always a kid amongst kids, adults never really ventured into my turf or better said...I never had any contact with any. So naturally I see myself as one of the "old" when in reality I am anything but (45 but whos counting hehe). Today I just know that I enjoy gaming as much as I did 30 years ago and I hope I ll have the dexterity as well as the mental capacity to play video games in another 30 years. Like others have mentioned my taste has changed a lot since my younger years and today I have the luxury to pick games out of an overwhelming supply when back then you simply played whatever you could get your hands on.

Looking over my steam (and other platforms...) library I cant wait for retirement when I finally will have the time to play most of the games properly I never even installed yet (damn you Humble).
