OLd park

Hi
How can i open an old park , archived in "Steamapps/Saves " folder , BUT , which dont appear in " My parks" list in the game ?
Hope it's clear !
Thanks (sorry for my bad English : French ![ugh] )

You may need show "autosaves" (Look on the Load a Game screen to show autosaves)

These are the saves that occur while you edit between proper saves (where you actually save a park)

Thanks BIG Draco , but on the Load Screen , i 've only the last saves ( 1 or 2 days ago) , and i want the one in February ( I've the"park " folder i want , in my "Save folder" but i cant have it in the game ! ) . The game show only the last one , not the old ones .[cry]

Hey gecaum,
The savegame-folder isn't located in the Steam-folder.
It should be located here: C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster
Just paste your old parks in this folder and they should appear when you start the game. :)

I'd like to add a little bit more details to this. The location of Planet Coaster saved parks is:
C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\12345678901234567\Saves *

* The folder with a large number is a unique number for your own Steam account, and the folder Saved Games may be named differently depending on the language of Windows. Also, the location may be different if you have moved the default location of the Saved Games folder in the folder settings.

The location that PlanetChris specified is the location of the Alpha parks.

Move your parks into this folder to let them show up in the game main menu. Each saved park consists of a folder with a unique number followed by the name of the park and contain at least 2 files which start with "fcompressedsave_".

Good luck! [up]

To Joel and Planetchris : Many Thanks , i'm going to search ! [up][up]

Edit : But i'm not sure you really understood my problem ! I'm speaking about a saved park , already in PLanet Coaster , not PC Alpha
I'm on a park named "xxxxx" and i loose today a great coaster in it . But in my "Saves" , i see i have the same park saved on the 24 of February ; so i want to open it , to recover my big coaster . The problem is that this park don't appear in "My parks " (Sandbox) in the loading screen . How can i do it ?

You're welcome. :)

@Joël: Thanks for adding the details. :)
Is it possible to change the savegame-folder?[woah] - I thought it's by default in "C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster" and you can't change it.[shocked]
Btw. the location is completely in English, except "Users" - "Users" will be in your language. :)

I'm speaking about a normal (not alpha) park-save, too. - the location above is the location, in which your savegames are located.
You need to add the folder, which contains the savegame to the folder Joël wrote above: "C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\12345678901234567\Saves"
("Users" will be in your language and 12345678901234567 is an individual number like Joël described.
Just go to "C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster" and you will see the folder with your number)

Maybe it helps to get some steps:
- Your save is a folder named by a "random" number/letter mix and the name of your park. (as example: 0AA0AA00_park-name)
- This folder contains four files: (fcompressedsave_bigscreenshot, fcompressedsave_metadata, fcompressedsave_metathumb, fcompressedsave_parkdata)
- Add this folder to the other saves here: "C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\12345678901234567\Saves"
-> And the save should appear in "my parks".

I really thank you for your help , planetchris ; but i don't understand cause all is well as you say . And that save ( of my actual park !) from Feb 24 dont appear ?
I just get the actual save and some automatic saves .......??????[sulk][wacky]
Nevermind , many thanks [up]

So you've added the save-folder of the park you want to the "Saves"-folder located here: "C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\12345678901234567\Saves"?
And the savegame still doesn't appear ingame?
Have you replaced the old save with the new save?

@PlanetChris: to the best of my knowledge, it is not possible to change the default location of the saved parks (saved games) from within Planet Coaster. It is probably possible for people who have technical knowledge to change the physical location, either using a config file (if the game saves the default location in a config file) or by using symbolic links for the file system (only for technical experienced users).

However, now that I think of it, maybe the location of saved parks is C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\12345678901234567\Saves only if you have previously installed an Alpha version of Planet Coaster (which I have) in order to separate the Alpha version parks from the beta/final release version parks. This is only an idea, I haven't tested it to see if it is true. If it is true, then the default location for players who have never installed an Alpha version would be C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster, like you have posted.

To make it more technical, C:\Users is physically named "Users", so if you paste the address in the address bar, it should work. Windows puts a virtual name on the "Users" folder based on the language of Windows, so it doesn't matter if you use C:\Users or a translated name of Users.

@gecaum: I'm interested to know if your problem can be solved. If you can't get the saved park to show up in the game (either putting the saved park-folder in C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\12345678901234567\Saves or C:\Users\%userprofile%\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster, and if all of the required files (see post of PlanetChris) are present in the saved park-folder, then it might be an idea to report it as a bug. You may want to add the saved park to the report (save it in a compressed zip-file and temporary share it on a file sharing website).

Please keep us posted on this issue. [happy]

Couldnt they have made this a little simpler? Like having it in the documents folder same as custom user music? I've seen this questions come up a lot ad it just seems so frustrating explaining to people how to access their own save files

how about a basic "paste shortcut" to your desktop from the saves folder? Thats what I do

You can do that, but that only creates a shortcut to a folder, it doesn't change the folder in which parks are saved.

I've just posted this one, because gecaum will not find the folder named by your ID. :D
This one is just as a little intermediate step, to find the location. - As far as I know, this location is the location for min. the final build. (I don't know, if the Alpha-parks have been in another folder)

Oh, I didn't know this one...thanks for the information. :D

That's quite normal for games and you just have to take a look at the (Frontier Support website), if you want to know, where you can find them. :)
But in general: You don't need to access this folder. ;)
