Old timer back for Odyssey but cant find the binds folder

Setting up for getting back into the game and I know the controller binds folder used to be in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings\ but I do not have a Frontier Developents folder in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\

In fact the only thing I can find is F:\Gaming\Elite Dangerous\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-64\ControlSchemes. Obviously my game is installed in a custom game folder on drive F.

There's a bunch of .binds files in there.

If they've changed the way they've saved it, no problems, but I see no reference to binds being kept in a different place, even when google searching articles from as recent as a month ago.

EDIT: Obviously I've installed in a custom location, but I always used to and still had the C drive Appdata Local FD folder there on system drive, which I don't have.

AppData is a hidden folder, you can either set up your system to display those or access it via %localappdata% (enter that in the address bar of your windows explorer).

I already made hidden folders visible. I can see the AppData folder, but there isn't a Frontier Developments folder inside that.

I'm not sure if you mean by this that there is no Frontier Developments folder in any of the sub-folders of AppData or if you mean you can't see a Frontier Developments folder in AppData itself. If the latter, then you need to look in AppData\Local (which you quoted in the full path in your original post, so I might be insulting your intelligence here, and if so I apologise).

If you don't have a Frontier Developments folder in either AppData\Local or AppData\Roaming then more information is needed - have you run the game at least once, are you trying to restore an old binds file or back up a new one, is your user profile directory definately in C:\Users (where do %APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA% take you?)

Yes I meant inside the local folder of App Data there is no Frontier Developments folder. There is a Frontier_Developments folder which only has a single wierd folder in it called (copy n pasted)....

EDLaunch.exe_Url_2xzkwp3j4zucus4ewomfcy1t4tvurwwg

inside this is a single file called...

specs.xml

and a folder called....

0.4.6568.0

with just a user.config file inside.

I seem to remember when I last had the game installed I had both a Frontier Developments folder AND a Frontier_Developments folder in the Local folder.

%APPDATA% and %LOCALAPPDATA% takes me to exactly where you would expect (C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ and C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ respectively).

EDIT: Since reinstall of Windows, I have run the game to the point of the main menu of the game, which i would have expected to be enough as that is where the settings for controls are first located.

Are you thinking I have to launch into the game from the main menu for this folder to be created?

Yes, that is correct - I have a similarly populated Frontier_Developments folder. The binds etc. are under the Frontier Developments folder.

Yes, I'm thinking it's possible you need to go further into the game. Although, I've just entered to the main menu and immediately quit and a couple of files under AppData\Local\Frontier Developments got updated timestamps.

Maybe go in and change a bind, or perhaps an audio or graphics setting to give the game something non-default to write out?

I'll try that as soon as Odyssey downloads. Shame I can't go into the main game build while it's doing this.
