OLED TV as an ED gaming monitor

I use a 55" Samsung OLED panel on HDMI/UDH @120hz.

Old tv's go out of style, use archaic channel schemes and often they're sold on ebay. I don't even use a standard monitor anymore. I tell people but they keep spending more on new tiny monitors.

I have always used HDTV displays instead of dedicated PC flat panels. I buy them for the living room, then a few years later, upgrade it and move the older one to my PC.

Now HDTV manufacturers have caught on and started dedicating HDMI ports to gaming as well as adding Freesync and other gaming features.

So, when I'm not gaming in the bedroom, I can watch Netflix or TV, as well as catch the news.

Gives me a reason for the wife. Hey, have you seen the latest HDTV features?

Ohhh that's some "burn in" jeez...
I got a 50+ inch oled LG downstairs as a TV. She won't let me have it in my cave.

Course I don't need it.
Hp G2 reverb = lush

I dunno worry that much of my oled tv because it has several techniques to avoid burn in, but i fear about my oled lenovo laptop. I dunno if it knows how to avoid burn in over time. The LG C1 TV offers an agressive cleaning option to get rid of burn ins like shown above. 👀

Good luck with that. Report back in 2 years.

"Pixel cleaning" and similar tools work by wearing the rest of the screen to match. The panel only has so much reserve luminance, which cannot be repaired, which degrades with use, and is eaten quite rapidly with pixel cleaning.

Whoa, that's a massive setup for Elite Dangerous! A 48-inch 4K OLED TV sounds like an incredible way to immerse yourself in the game. The level of detail and richness in visuals must be out of this world.

Won't the OLED screen suffer burn-in from the fact that the game's HUD is virtually constant?

I have been using our old tv a Panasonic 48" 4KUHD for around 4-5yrs now for Elite Dangerous Horizons and now Odyssey as well as for concerts and films. In the TV settings there is a dedicated Game setting which I alternate between that and the Cinema setting depending on use. Have been doing this for 4-5yrs without any problems. I use a 24" standard PC monitor for general internet usage. I don't think I could ever be happy playing EDO on a standard monitor again, in fact if this TV goes Kaput I shall be convincing the missus that she needs a new TV and I shall take the 55" curved screen Samsung upstairs to my mancave. :sneaky:(y)
