I have been looking for a simple and elegant solution for head tracking in ED. The main one I found was using a webcamera to see IR LEDs. Didn't like that as it didn't work with my webcam and I didn't really want to buy another just for that purpose. I put the idea on the back burner, after all it couldn't make the game that much better.
At the end of last week I was bored and had another look for some form of head tracking that was cheap - I was actually thinking of getting a webcam that would work. However I actually found EDTracker. A quick order of two components, three day wait, about an hour to wire it all up (jury rigged at the moment!) and voila, head tracking!
It really does change the way that I am playing at the moment. Makes it so much more immersive (as I can't afford a Rift!). Seriously £10 (inc P&P) a little solder and wire, free software and you have a bloody good head tracking system!

I plan tomorrow to make a 3D printed case for it and then screw it to the cap
