OMG! Head tracking has made the game soooooo much better!

I'm thinking of getting the track ir for Elite Dangerous and a humongous monitor. :)
So nice to get lost in the game after a long day at work.

Shok.

The ED tracker is the 'bees knees' as far as I am concerned, and yes it is beautiful to be able to look around as you pilot through this amazing game. Not getting at TrackIR users here or trying to troll in any way, but why would you go down this route if it was not already purchased? Are there advantages that I am unaware of?

I have the EDTracker and I can't say enough how good it is for the price... I bought mine pre-assembled from Brumsters site and have just recently re-fitted it to a new enclosure....

I really have got to get my TrackIR set up again, not just for ED but Arma 3 also. It's a great piece of kit.

I am using facetracknoir which actually doesn't need IR leds and works pretty decent.

But as much as I love the freedom of movement I still can't get used to how the left- and right-handed menus work with head-tracking. Do I really have to look left and right to use the panels (which is really inaccurate) or can I still somehow use the 1-2-3 keys?
Also when using head-tracking the mouse-cursor doesn't work properly in menus anymore. Even though I am hovering the mouse exactly on the buttons the actual button-handler itself is still on the position where the original menu would be without head-tracking. confusing...

IIRC, you have to bind a key to turn off head tracking then you should be able to use 123 for the menus / mouse as normal by turning it off to do so, then back on when you finish. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

Pressing 1 2 or 3 still works as normal even with tracking activated :)

Sounds Awesome! I would temp it myself, however i feel that i would burn every inch of my fingers off and not have the patience for it haha

You can always order one from the guys that "invented" it (is that the right word?)

I have both the 6050 and 6150 version (just got the latter today) and if you can afford the extra 10 pounds for the 6150, then I would recommend it, I've only used the latter one a few hours before writing this, and it's so much more fun to use as I don't have to press the reset button as much or mess around with the drift.

See the main thread on these board for more info:

Enjoy!

My EDTracker arrived today, works great, Adds a whole knew dimension to the game. I need to either find better headphones, rather than the flimsey one's I have, since they now keep sliding off my head, or a better way to mount the EDTracker, a hat or a headband maybe.

omg! my EDTracker arrived today - thanks for that!

and now the website is down and i can't download the GUI! omg omg

somebody got a link for me maybe? :)

edit: it's back again, phew
