Newcomer / Intro OMG I can dock now! (Lesson learned: watch vids multiple times, review your key maps!)

So I have up until now been utterly unable to dock without auto-docking assist. No problem landing in general, like on planet surfaces -- that's easy. But trying to land on that green disk center, and not go skittering off some direction to then flail around in the station trying to get back for another try... that has been an utter nightmare! And I'd even watched videos that gave tips for it!
Well I was practicing in the Training scenario still just having a terrible time, when I decided to watch the YT video again. And the guy makes a quick remark that I must have completely missed the first time, about using Q and E as sideways thrusters!! What??? I'd never used those! Just mouse pitch and yaw, and A and D for my sideways movements!
All the difference in the world!! I can land on a dime now thanks to actually knowing about Q and E! (If I'd taken a closer look at my keymaps, maybe I'd have seen them and tried as well.)
So as one newbie to maybe other newbies, pay close attention to those videos and your key mapping!! Man all the trouble, banged ships, fines that I could have avoided... -_-

Woah hang on, nobody is suggesting anything that radical, what if you want to make a cuppa while landing, or check the GalMap, or the Codex or a million other distractions? Land myself? Eeeurgh thats for common pilots, im a millionaire, I dont park my own car the valet does that...and they pay for the paint damage too if I had my way ;)

These are the reasons why I decided to hit leaning to dock hard so I could get rid of that computer! I tried getting rid of the Supercruise Assist computer (because my ship can fit only one or the other) and having to pay attention to Every. Single. Leg. of the Trip! got tedious as heck fast! Much better to bite the bullet and figure out my docking problem than not being able to set my SC and walk away for a bit :)
