Omg that took forever

Welcome to the Clean Remlok Club.

Now the real questions: Did you make the trip in a Type9? Did you claim your free Anaconda for it?

It's about 90 minutes IIRC and the ship doesn't even reach it's top speed. It is a rite of passage as you say ;)

I helped out with a CG there years ago, with the Code waiting at the binary system for us; great fun :D

Im sure most if not all have vented about it but now its my turn ...
Hutton g orbital.
Finally made the right of passage though. Yay me

O7

When I first started playing, shortly after release, I got a mission to go there. Having not been alive during the original games lifespan and not ever reading a forum post up to that point, I took the mission and headed out.

Pretty sure I was still in my starter Sidewinder. When I got there and the time-to-intercept never got below 2 hours, I had a serious conversation with myself about what kind of game I had gotten myself into. I decided I had to accept the challenge.

That being said, it's a fond memory and now that you've got your mug, welcome to the big leagues :D

I made the trip at least 20 times. Back in the day we could stack 20 data courier missions and fetch 60-80mil per run. That's for doing nothing but sitting there and watching netflix or whatever.

Is this only on the direct course? Is there another circum course which is faster? I guess not, but just asking.

Right on, OP, well done.

Maybe, look for someone else to test it though :D

I haven't been back in years but when I went I just pointed the ship at the binary & went full throttle, never tried an arc over that big a distance.

In the 4 years that Ive been playing ED, I'd always avoided Hutton Orbital.

I've always read this forum, so quickly realised what a lengthy journey this was to attempt.

It was only late last year, while twiggling my thumbs waiting for 3.3 to go live, wondering what to do in the game, that I decided "y'know what? I'll go to Hutton, just to say I've done it"..........so I went.

The End.

There's an ongoing Truckers' Time Trial... at least I assume it's still ongoing. I think the fastest were something like 86 minutes or so. I think the deets are on the Hutton Orbital website.

I was there for that one but in PG. The vociferous antics of some Code members made it not worth my time. Shame really. I think I would have enjoyed an encounter with a proper pirate. Still haven't to this day.

I did my first couple of runs in a 180t Python, running interference for a small gaggle of T-6s that latched onto me as the obvious red-shirt in the group. When we arrived at the binary they scattered in all directions while I hoped to distract the pirates by diving into the star's gravity well then double-tapping J. When a couple of pirates joined (A Clipper and something else) I was already charged up & boosted back into supercruise & just managed to get the station 'safe to disengage' message as a second interdiction started and immediately failed.

It was a lot of fun, and the Code put on a terrific show.

After that I tried Mobius to see what it was like and helped a couple of players to unload their Condas. Unlike most I didn't have a collector onboard so was of limited use. It was a different kind of camaraderie, less intense but less welcoming too, I was simply expected to do my part it seemed. That was the last time I spent any significant amount of time in the Mobius group, although I am still a member of it I think.

There is room for lots of different playstyles in ED, I like that I can choose and I like that others can make a different choice.
