Omg where do they come from?

Hello, any idea why this keeps happening to me?? My zoo runs normally for say 10 mins and then suddenly hundreds of people try to get in. I keep having to save every few mins and then loading my saved version as this keeps happening.

this has happened to me when placing a new shop (I think it was merch, not sure) for exemple.... do you have a shop that has no vendor then get one just before the wave of peeps comes in ?

If you compare the guest numbers between the two shots, you can see that you had a lot more guests before the “stampede”. Looks like a lot of guests left for some reason initially - maybe an escaped animal? A lot of people being stuck somewhere and leaving all mad? - and then came back all at once. You also have some protestors coming in. Could be coincidence, but maybe it’s related. You also lost a bit of the overall zoo rating.

Check in your saved version. Maybe there is an animal or guest issue that makes them leave. And 10 minutes later, the guests come back. What happens when you just let the game run? The people should disperse after a while as they all go their own way.

Sorry I should of said ignore the dates, took the pics on completely different dates to show as examples. It literally is i'll play for 10 mins all is well and then suddenly it happens. Been happening for lots of "game years". I thought at first it was when I placed a new habitat but just been playing without doing hardly anything and its done it again. No escaped animals, no people trapped, plenty of vendors. I cannot leave it running when they all come in as there are just to many and they keep on coming....

This happens to me as well. Not often, but common enough to be noticeable. It’s not that guests leave; they disappear. I went from 6,0000 to 2,000 yesterday within 3 minutes. Not long after a horde of 4,000 started to attempt re-entry and it took 4 in game years for the guest satisfaction to climb back up to 80%+ because they were all in lines at the entrance. It’s not game breaking, but if it happens as much as you say, it would be. It gave my zoo the first negative months in over 100 years as refunds skyrocketed to 50 or 60k each year and average guest visit shrunk to 8 minutes. Many would turn around and create a logjam. I watched one time and my guests were stuck in the single entrance for 5 days leaving and entering. I believe something glitches in the game and it clears out guests to avoid a more serious problem, but I’m not sure.

I had this happen a few times to, but all of the times that I noticed it, it happened just after I put down or changed a road. It doesn't even have to be close to the guests, but changing a road seems to cause some of the guests (not all of them, but still several thousands if you have 4-8k guests in your zoo) to "reset" and get teleported to the entrance/just outside the entrance, wich cause these flooding of guests. Maybe it's the same for you? Did you place a piece of road when this happened? (It can happen with staf paths too if you connect them to a road that people are walking on)

arggh its so annoying and making it pretty unplayable. I guess it could be every time I do something with a path....but how am supposed to play without paths?! Did you find a way to stop it? Thanks everyone for your advice.

I had similar problems with guests when i removed paths (with guest on it or nearby)

Closed my zoo, waited for everyone to leave, changed my entrance to make a little square/more paths in the beginning, and re-opened again. (for future purposes)
Took a big hit in my finances during that period.

Fixed that zoo for me but it's a gamble.

Didn't really need to, as I have stopped making new paths (at least anywhere close to the guests) as my current zoo is pretty finished pathwise (overall it's not even closed to finished) :p

I think it's basically the guest equivalent of when animals get randomly boxed because you made some scenery, landscape, or path change in their vicinity, or sometimes just completely randomly miles on the other side of the park. Not sure what's caused it for me each time, but the narrow section at the start of my zoo really struggles - fortunately my computer can handle it, and in sandbox the hit on income is nothing for me to worry about, but for franchise I bet it's a huge pain. Working on another zoo right now and making a nice open square at the start of my zoo with paths off in many directions to try and preemptively improve the situation, though if it gets fixed that'd be the ideal!

There is a way to limit the number of guests, I don't recall exactly where to find it but I know I used it to set a limit of 1000 guests when I started my first franchise.

Happens to me as well when opening a game - go in and the transport rides all have the issue - refer to shots. Happens every time when going back into larger park zoo - I don't mind though.

Yeah, the same with me. The entrance area looked like a concert. Within 15 minutes from 90% to 38% happiness.

Planning out for future expansions/crowds is very important. Adjusting this can be very tedious..
It would help if guests would teleport to the nearest path instead of the entrance, but once you know - it's something you need to work with.

Thanks everyone for all your replies, much appreciated. It seems to be anything really. Just doing general zoo "stuff", anything from building a new habitat to placing some lights. I find the only way to play is saving it all the time and then re-starting from saved version as soon as it does it again. Then play for a bit, then repeat. "Sigh"
