OMG

I've never really been a forum user....just get the information I need from them.
What is with all the Moaning about ED?
I want this... I want that ....in this game we could blah blah blah.
I think ED IS AWESOME!

It is evolving new bits being added etc.
I understand people being miffed about bugs etc they get fixed in time .

People bought a released game at full price. Not an early access so "evolving new bits" can be added.

Personally I feel the game is already worth every cent I paid for it. But games nowadays aren't what they used to be anymore. In the time of boxed games you got the final product. There was no option for further upgrades nor for bugfixes (mostly). Now games still evolve even after being published. The fact that further features will be included later doesn't mean the game is incomplete now.

My guess is that much of the moaning comes from too high or wrong expectations paired with a lack of patience for further upgrades. FD certainly didn't do themselves a favour when publishing that rather misleading trailer a while back, but other than that I think the problem usually sits in front of the keyboard. ;)

Totally agree, so much ranting for no real reason.

well... before i bought the game i read about it. i knew what is alrdy in, and what might come in the future.
so i knew what i bought. no reason to whine about lack of content.
but i also know that ability to read and understand whats written is not very common :)

+1 bunch of self entitled angry birders lol i play every day and have been since beta 1.00 all the info was there and I knew I was buying into a developing game.

I suspect that they hit the buy button without doing any research.

the only ones i have even remote sympathy for are those that can't run it and are waiting on tickets, having said that tried to help one yesterday and got nothing but ignorant repeating of the op question,

he was demanding a refund because he could not launch but would not answer us when we asked for details just kept repeating I want a refund, so i assumed he was a troll.

my fun value for elite is now down to bellow .01 pennies an hour lol can't say better than that.

Players complain because that is what players do on every single game forum out there, I am sure that if there were game forums when Pacman, or to be topical, the original Elite was released you would have seen pretty much similar complaints. It is also a lot to do with modern gamers having zero patience and the attention span of a goldfish, if they cannot get the biggest ships/highest level/best gear etc inside a month they come to the forums complaining.

Erm, nope. Free speech is why everyone's allowed to moan on forums, which is obviously as it should be! Free speech is not why people moan. People should have a reason for moaning, not just "because they can". That is what differentiates whining from constructive criticism. And in quite a lot of the cases the reason seems to be what's lacking.

+1 to you Sir.

Moaning is good.
It means the community is alive.

People make a lot of noise about things they care about.
When everything is dead quiet and nobody is making any noise, that's when you need to worry.

This.

Some people will complain no matter what you present to them and unfortunately, these types of people usually outnumber the people who talk about enjoying stuff because we are spending out time enjoying ourselves instead of posting about it. The game isn't perfect, but no game is or ever will. There will always be something that "could" be fixed or added or whatever, but the important thing to remember in this case is that FD has not only said that they will add and fix aspects of this game, but we have absolute proof of it as they have been improving the game in a constant manner without stop save for a week off between christmas and new years.

I agree with Hayray, the biggest problem is expectation. I was expecting a game where I could get a ship, do some combat when I felt like it, explore and see wondrous sights when I wanted to, and anything in between for the rest of the time and I haven't been let down. There could be more ships, but I haven't even tried everything with the ships I can currently afford not to mention the ones beyond my current means and we already know that new ships are coming later this year so that point is moot. There could be more mission types, but the basic framework that is established in game so far has great potential and I am confident that more variety will be added gradually.

The thing is if you buy a product thinking it will be the thing that will fix every problem you have, you'll be disappointed 100% of the time. And it makes me laugh when I see people rage quit because this 60$ game (which is quite standard price at the moment) has only given them 100-200 hours of joy and now they don't have anything else to look forward to when most games of the same price nowadays give you less than 8 hours of gameplay and have little to no replay value beyond that.

Good point actually - nobody would be moaning if the game was actually just awful because nobody would care and nobody would be playing the game.

you are not gonna find me opening whiny threads, but i'm not gonna shut up about missing features, that actually should have been in a release version.

yes, i want things.
i want to play with friends, in this "epic multiplayer experience", and when i again tried yesterday, it took several attempts to actually join the same instance. apart from the fact that playing coop is pretty useless from a gameplay perspective.
a problem that exists since beta.

or 2 days ago, when i came back from a long exploration trip, and it took around one hour to sell all the data! lol. in a game geared towards exploration.

i sometimes think the people who don't moan at all, are the ones that don't like ED. or it is just a lack of imagination.

in the end, grats to FD for building a great foundation to a maybe one day great game.

I think i got my money back as well already. But yeah, i want to see ED expand so i like to drop suggestions now and then. And im looking forward to the expansions and any tweaks that make the good better.

I agree but asking to turn it into something its not supposed to be is just crazy....ED rocks and will rock more IMHO.

If someone spends 40-50 EUR for something and dosn't bother to look at it he should blame himself if it's not like he imagined it. Not the game is wrong, but his imagination was wrong.

I used the forum, looked at youtube videos and read several previews. I asked myself 'is this worth 40 EUR?' And hit preorder. This is exactly my type of game and when it gets more polished in the future it is even better.

People need to learn they are responsible for their own actions.

This game is worth WAY MORE than what I payed for it. I've gotten more enjoyment out of it then any game I've played in the last 10 years.
