PvP On Chilling Out About PvP

So. PvP in Elite: Dangerous. I've never claimed to be the best pilot out there, but I've been playing the game as long as anybody and I got some words I'd like to speak. Here goes.

Hell of a monster, ain't it? It's unbalanced, unorganized, and on the best days difficult as can be to get the fights you want. On the other hand, when it all jells together, I'd suggest there's possibly nothing else quite like it anywhere in computer gaming. You all know what I'm talking about. You've been searching for targets all day (whether that's PowerPlay, CGs, bounty hunting, or just straight murder) and those little hollow squares finally show up and you know it's time to dance.

But by the gods all the garbage that we've surrounded it with. 'Space bushido,' tactics shaming, toxic trash talk - it all just really kills the mood, don't it? Well, I don't know about you all, but I'm done with all that. All I can do is accept the game as it stands right this moment and play it the best I know how.

Gonna try to do better. Be better. So what do I think that means going forward?

Unless the fight is arranged ahead of time it's jungle rules, baby. Fight, flee, or die. Put aside my ego. Play the game. See what else there is to do while still exploring how PvP fits into the larger scheme of what Elite: Dangerous is.

Because like the Captain said, 'I'm not looking for forgiveness and I'm way past asking for permission.'

See you out there. o7

Apparently I can't rep ya, but have some virtual REP+

Amen, the ego issue is the biggest one out there.

To much waggling of the tiny E-peens and not enough fighting.

More to the point, not enough decent fights, 9/10 times its lone pilots vs gank squad which is utterly deppressing.

People need to care less about thier concept of "Im the bestest" and more about actually playing the game we have, which is great, when you find a talented pilot using a decent loadout then there is seldom a more entertaining experience.

Balance issues though are a massive great gaping hole and that upsets the game IMO, I won't list anything here, but the issues really need seeing to for PvP to be truly fun for everyone. Or at least more folk, I know plenty of folk who refuse to take part because they don't like being cheesed, which is a shame, a few balance tweaks and the PvP aspect would probably be less frowned upon and enjoyed by more.
As it would be if people did'nt behave in such an utterly childish way. "Salt mining" in real life gets your jaw swung. Lets keep the crap out of the game. If you have nothing better to do than try to belittle people or try to get a rise out of them whilst they play thier game, you really should take a look at yourself, because the very act disgusts a huge number of people.

Agreed.
Would give you more rep but must spread some around first.

That said, my recent fights have all been very enjoyable, even the one I lost a decent SLF pilot on!
I was about to wake out but figured, , lol!
He earned it as far as I'm concerned!

Agreed 100% there is no feeling like pushing the throttle forward and pulling that trigger when you realise that this time you're in a REAL fight.

So true.

You should see how salty folks on ps4 get if you reverse away from thier pathetic clippers.

Combat CGs or similar public hotspots should be a staple of ED, so people who feel like doing some PvP know they can possibly find others there. Not one, not two, but a load of players.
