On-foot conflict zone performance.

So, how long it's going to take FDEV?
Average of between 35-60 is not going to cut it.

We need stable 60 fps at least.

Most of odyssey marketing was based on on-foot conflict zones, so when we get performance as we have seen on odyssey trailers?

Commanders, plz post your framerates you get in cz so i can least know i'm not only one.

It's been 570 days since release of odyssey and we still have abysmal performance of on-foot conflict zones.
If FDEV can't get odyssey performance be least somewhat stable they should update recommended specs to mirror it.
I will always judge game's performance with it's most intensive parts

Nuff said.

Must have been optimised for some machines in update 14, as my FPS went up by 50% in CZs (no increase elsewhere).

50%??? I think your previously rendering/setting files was wrong, but 'installing of update 14' itself might have fixed that problem. In my old squadron all members case, nothings are changed. And in reviews of other FDev's games, always optimization was criticized and they couldn't fix that. Fdev said always 'We are trying', but it's FDev's limit.

I'm looking forward to a constructive post which actually includes some hardware specs.
Mine are much higher than recommended - and have been exceeding 60 FPS in High on-foot CZs for quite some time. (Unless I go into 4K, when it hovers around 60 )

ETA: but EDO (and no doubt H4 as it is EDO without foot stuff) is a little hardware hungry and I doubt that even 30 FPS would be achievable, in 1080, on recommended hardware in an on-foot CZ currently)

I have basically the "recommended" spec (slightly more RAM, slightly different CPU but basically the same performance, the exact 1060 GPU)

CZs for me tend to be around 45 FPS (which is marginally up on before U14, but nothing worth mentioning) at 1080 resolution when using the "ultra" FSR mode.

Not ideal, though well over twice what I was getting a year ago.

Besides the pretty annoying and frequent fps drops when entering a new instance, or getting in and out of my ship, in which case I always have to exit to menu and reload because I'm about to vomit, which is tedious, I've really only got issues with on foot CZs. I'm above recommended specs, on an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11400F @ 2.60GHz, 16 GB RAM, on a 3840 x 2160, 60Hz.

I was playing with a lower resolution, but there was a decent bump up in fps, I thought, with the recent update, so I've since turned up my settings to match my TV's, and the game runs great in every case, besides the random instances dropping - OUT OF NOWHERE, the second I drop in - their frames and obviously the on foot CZs, as well.

When the random drops happen, it's horrible, often times hitting the 15s-20s. The conflicts can get better, but they're NEVER anywhere near even 50-55fps, and are most often around 30-40fps on a good day, and 20-30fps on a day like today - I was just playing, and it felt like it used to, where I have to turn slowly so as not to vomit and experience some modicum of, oh what is the word... fun! I can obviously lower my resolution, but even then, I only get around 40-50fps... it's kinda insane... is my PC really that mediocre? Really??? I have to lower my resolution every time I want to do a CZ?

I might try and update this post with some on foot CZ frame rate results.

My rig specs

RTX 3060 12 GB
AMD ryzen 5 4500 u

Constantly framdrop to 30 fps in conflict zone, games feels then like it has huge higups.

Playing around with Resolution or some other hardware buffing stuff didn’t help really

The game is very pumpy with his frames on ground combat

Really annoying especially when you could play every game with stable 60 frames expect elite on ultra.

I play with a top tier 3080 GeForce Now account. Put ALL the quality settings to medium (medium. yes. on a 3080), removed completely antialiasing, and other tricks i found on Reddit.
This way I manage to play "decently" on foot, limiting the framedrop to 40fps, 30/35 worst case.
Is it playable? i mean, yes, it is.
Is it enjoyable? kind of, but it starts becoming frustrating quickly.
is it optimal? no :)
I mean sure, on foot combat got better from launch, sure. no doubt about it. I get it, optimizing the engine is probably a thing so complicated that goes beyond everyone's comprehension (actually i'm a developer so i kinda can imagine).

let's hope the optimization will continue wil future updates!
