Currently, there is no way to jump inside stations. There are a few places inside the concourse and the hangar where it would be convenient to hop up on something that you need to walk around now (for example the deck near the view ports between the couches). So instead of taking a high jump, inside stations just have us hop a couple feet instead. Maybe make it high enough to jump over a railing or planter?
I don't know how high you need to jump inside settlement buildings. Maybe there is no need for a hop inside of them? Regardless, it might be nice to select between a short hop and a standard jump on planet surfaces (onto rocks) and around the exterior of settlements.
Option 1: Use same key bind and have it context sensitive. This would initiate a standard jump everywhere but inside stations, where it would initiate a short hop.
Option 2: Use different key binds for jump and hop.
Option 3: Use the same key bind, using a single tap for a hop and a double tap for a jump.
Option 4: Use the same key bind, using a single tap for a hop and holding it for 1/2 second or so for a jump. Ideally, I think the jump height/strength would be relative to how long the button is held between a tap and a second or so.
Personally, I don't see why we can't jump inside stations - so you bump your head of you jump too high!
I think my preference would be option 4 as best, especially with the relative implementation, and 3 as next best. Option 1 would be OK but limits choices. Option 2 would be worst needing double the key binds.
An additional option would be to assign jump height/strength to an axis. Then I could use the throttle mini stick for jumping, crouching (need an axis for that too), and strafing left and right. Or you could use the mouse wheel to regulate how high you jump (or crouch). Regardless, this would be in addition to the digital option.
