On-foot thargoids/Aliens

Is update 14 has in game thargoids on-foot and we need to discover them in the maelstrom or the wars as progresses? If so then a member of the DEV team at least confirm this.. it would be great if on-foot war will come in a later war progress with the thargoids and not with an update 15 or something, so are the thargoid on-foot aliens in-game?

Considering that FDev are keeping quite secretive about any story progression, no, don't expect any official spoilers from them.
I suppose that if on foot Thargoids were in this update, they would have been datamined already.
I believe that they will come in one of the future updates, allowing for a more streamlined flow of the storyline, rather than rushing everything on the first few days.
There's still too much to understand/discover as is.

Sacrilegiously, I much prefer on-foot combat to the spaceship kind so am waiting until I can see the whites of their spider-vegetable eyes until I take part in the Thargoid War.

The game is too old now and it is slowly going to its natural end. I don't believe we are going to see any new gameplay as ship interiors or on-foot thargoids. Especially after the bumpy launch of odyssey. I will expect only new scenarios using the existing gameplay and mechanics to keep the players on for as long as possible before FDev close the door for good.

The Rescue Ranger screen is replaced with a message that you have been re-prioritized to serve the greater Thargoid good...

Well yea, is that true FDEV?? if you read this at least talk about it and don't get secretive.. this game still has a lot of potential, but if you don't make something fresh just adding the flavors to the existing cake.. I'm critisising because I love this game and having 1000+ hours in I want this game to be better like SC with that 2 star systems..

Imagine you had never heard of Elite before, and just started playing. I think that many, particularly with new PC's, would probably enjoy the game.

Most of the rest of us have been in a passive-aggressive, abusive relationship with the game for some time. With Frontier as the dominant partner.

Big difference.

The unfolding pace of the narrative / new mechanics is pretty glacial and there are quite a few new games on the horizon.

Baldur's Gate 3 just patched, and will full release, Starfield will release next year, Witcher is getting a makeover, CP2077 is getting a DLC, a bunch of survival games are updating / releasing new content, Diablo (EA ew I know) , lots of shops are going to release UE 5 stuff etc. etc.

I appreciate that FDEV isn't letting EDO die, but is it going to be too little too late to be relevant?

I'm so thirsty for space content that I've burned a bunch of time gathering mats for caustic heat sinks that haven't even been released in game. I made like 30 grelics that I sold to Palin and Ram Tah anticipating that their might be some long term outcome - but I am more than a little worried that those things are just place holders for content that is years off or will never be released.

Half the time I'm in the Maelstrom cloud I get random damage from caustic effects, I wonder if it's lag, a bug, or if I actually flew through something. Sometimes I'm stationary and get the effect, and or a stacking version of the effect (and I am not close to a f arting mine) My ship is prepped, I can fix it - so it's not impossible to deal with. My ship location while stationary has jumped from 118km to 56 km, in proximity to the core, and cloud visual density does not always provide and indication as to depth.

Given my previous experiences with ED, I don't know if this is working as intended, or bugged.

They imply that the Thargoids have a plan, and that the unfolding BGS mechanics are part of it. Call me a grunt if you want, I go to where I'm supposed to shoot, scoop or scan something (since those are the available gameplay mechanics) - and there isn't much new to do on that front with 14.

I'm shooting jax and scooping up smelly guts - and boosting from interdictions. I sure hope they have something new to do soon...

I would imagine this is the natural progession for the game however given Frontier history they don't always deliver quite what "some" of the fans want. I had my doubts about this update but the way its progressed is mostly good. Adding Thargoids to the background sim and making Goid Combat accessable to the whole community was a good move. I'd love to see pew pew of goids on foot and we have seen concept or datamined assets from the game suggesting this is coming.

Hopefully the AI in conflict zones on foot improves as its pretty rubbish at the mo for anyone who's played first person shooters.

Good point. I am upset and criticizing for the same reason.

It's intended. It's one big caustic cloud (not just near the generators) and if you watch the target on your HUD (the "centre" of the maelstrom) you'll see it warp around at random because your ship's sensors can't track it properly - that's what causes the changes in distance.

I really hope that isn't the case. Been into it for about a year now and it's become one of my favorite games. I hope the renewed interest with the war keeps it going for a while.

There are a few who insist that the game has been dying since Alpha...

The storyline appears to be mapped into the 2nd half of next year, so there is probably another year or so of the game minimum left to run.
I always suggest to count a year from whenever the game stops being sold...

As for most - can you provide citations from that most, individually , to permit the inclusive statement?
My therapist said it would cause an anxiety attack. I can't afford the ambulance ride. I will just go to my corner, and let the Enlightened Ones have their way.
