On-Foot Tools

So I have been playing Odyssey here and there. I am experiencing quite a few issues so it has been difficult, but I was thinking about on-foot tools and it seems a bit much. And not enough...

Thing I would drop:
Identity scanner - I don't know why this is handheld. It can simply be function of the helmet. The player could simply change modes like with ships to scan npc's since it only has one current function. Eventually add other things that can be scan.

Power Charger - Make it a function for when a player walks up to a power port. Press E to plugin and then just give the option to either charge or overload where appropriate. A cord with a plug at the end of it would work fine.

Thing I would expand:
Bio scanner - I would nix the name and just call it a multi-scanner. Give it the ability to take samples of materials, atmosphere, liquids (geysers), and structures (mainly alien). The minigame is on hold. I am hoping it will be totally canned and we get something more inline with the Full Spectrum Scanner, and have to tune in and line up the rings (or something) manually.

Cutting Tool - Make this a multi-tool. The secondary function is repair so the player can repair the srv and ship. Including the powerplant and the like. I know srv's can use materials to repair, so cut that function and allow the materials to be used for buffs, ammo, and crafting. Players could then make their own ammo, energy packs, health packs, e-breeches, and other consumables.

Adding hacking would be nice. More than using e-breeches, but to steal Access Clearance from computer terminals in the HQ, unlock doors and chests, and take control of, activate, or deactivate base functions. The player's hands (gloves) could have a plug that would plug into ports and e-breeches would become "ammo". The difficulty of the security would determine how many e-breeches are needed to hack, and using more than required would speed up the process.

I like these. Thinking about it, yeah the scanner and charge gun really could just be part of the suits, a button to activate scan mode, and an interact option for power/overload. One problem would be how would you use the overcharge gun mode to "neutralise" a target? I guess just a stealth melee kill option could have worked as a substitute.

And I've thought about how the Arc Cutter could have an alt mode to become an Arc Welder, would be awesome for repair work. You could use it to repair an SRV that's been damaged in combat, or maybe missions to repair leaky pipes at a base...

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I would just have a silent takedown. I guess to make it "fair" the player would do it with the weapon in hand so we risk an npc noticing we have a weapon drawn. Not sure, but a Judo Chop always does the trick.
