On My Pilgrimage to Sagittarius A*

Do what I did and go waaaay past it. The trip to Sag A is something tons of people do. My third exploration trip was to Sag A. My fourth I just went to the complete other side of the galaxy.

That's something people rarely do, plus if you scan enough you'll get close to a elite rank in exploration. I say you challenge yourself!

I'm probably going to try that at some point after Horizons comes out. I need to reload my heat sinks and AFMU before I go back out, and I would like to get my combat and trade ranks up as well.

Of course, I still need to cross the last 12kly between where I am and the bubble before I do anything.

View attachment 95990I'm on my way there too. I'm at 0:-44:20,000. Hopefully tomorrow I will finish my journey and see the sights then make the arduous journey back.
Next trip I take I plan on pulling out my annie for the jump range.

Good luck. Search google for the forum about plotting routes near the core or you'll go crazy!

TL:DR - plot routes that are slightly less than a whole multiple of your ships jump range (the slightly less has to do with star density because you are never jumping your max range - this is usually somewhere between 10 and 40 ly less). Doing this reduces the calculations of the route plotter. I've gotten stuck on the plotter for up to 15 minutes before I read that thread!

Yep, Sag A is now a "tourist" destination, a bit like the Eiffel tower, worth seeing but - meh...

Got my trusty DBX with fuel scoop, A5 FSD, an ADS, and a DSS. Gonna make the trip.

Just done the trip myself. Slowly making my way back. It's taken me about 4-6 weeks to fulfill due to work commitments, but it was so worth it. I found 20 earth likes, God knows how many water worlds and high metal/metallics, some of which were terraformable. I even found 3 undiscovered black holes around the 17k mark.

I'll also add, unless you've left already, take 2 AFMU with you. Even though I was extremely careful, I still made a few errors in flying in SC, especially when you hit the neutron fields, if you go that route. :)

Speaking of being careful, even if you are careful you can still get boned. When I came out of a jump it set me down right between 2 stars so if I didn't have heat sinks I would of been roasted like a turkey forgotten on thanksgiving in the oven.

I was lucky on my trip, I never had the unfortunate experience of dropping into a binary between 2 stars. I also took some heat sinks as well. I Forgot to mention that, lol.

On my trip, i kept getting dropped between binaries. Got dropped between more times than I liked. The hazards of exploration.

I don't have any heat syncs or AFMUs with me. Perhaps I should turn this into a Cat's Paw run then go back and gear up.
