I find searching for neutrons/BH easier when I do:
1. Turn off economic/fast routing
2. Turn on view by star type
3. Turn off all star types except O B and NON SEQUENCE
4. Zoom out midway (best way of explaining that just play with the zoom so you can see the stars)
5. Beware neutron stars are GREY and they aren't obvious. Also when entering a NS system be absolutely sure you are zero throttle.

I found several when I was in the lower doughnut of neutron stars, just add them to the "non-sequence" filter and keep an eye. If they have a companion star nearby it makes for very impressive screenies
