ON/OFF toggle for ship's 'Auto-Departure' when in SRV

As the title suggests, I'd like to have an option to keep my ship put when I go out wandering in the SRV.

Sometimes I'd just like to keep it as a "base camp" or a reference point to keep track how much I've traveled/where I am or just do a quick stroll around. Sometimes the terrain is such that every landing spot the ship finds is basically unreachable for me. Has happened a few times when scouring steep and deep ravines. Back tracking close to the original landing site hasn't helped either, since the ship's computer apparently does not like using the same spot twice... "Eewww.. I already landed there once. It's dirty. And filthy. Make it go away."

Makes sense in colonised space to have it leave in case someone attacks it but thousands of Ly's out in the void there isn't anyone out there. Unless of course there's a technical limitation as to why the ship can't exist outside the 2km limit.

On a related note, I wonder how possible/impossible would it be to add a 'Pick Up' option to the Ship Recall function. Meaning the ship wouldn't land, just home in on you and hover so you could hop in and make like a tree. I know it currently does that if it can't land, but it seems to do so above the spot it wanted to land on, and that again may be unreachable. I've had the ship hover at an weird angle against an icy cliff face and me spending like half an hour trying to get underneath the hatch (never succeeding). Yet the bottom of the ravine was smooth and had plenty of room for the ship to come hover over me.

There used to be a little trick to prevent the ship from launching (Shut down the thrusters once the ship had landed) Devs quickly patched that one out, thrusters now auto-switch offline when we land, the AI turns them on again to auto depart. Another weird horizons quirk, you could uninstall the approach suite when docked at a base, the ship would teleport into orbit.

All fun and games.. Anyway, fully agree, we should be able to leave our ships as a base camp when exploring in the SRV. Also get rid of that annoying 30km SLF limit.

IIRC it's because one player account (and by extension their ships and other vehicles) can't exist in multiple instances at the same time. If you drove far enough away, it's possible the game would crash or your account would become corrupted. When your ship leaves you on the surface, it doesn't really fly into orbit, it just unloads and reloads when you call it. It's also why your fighter can only fly so far away.

That's probably not 100% accurate but I think that's the general flavour of why it is the way it is. I'm sure it's not insurmountable but it would probably require a big rewrite of network code, etc. In any case, I'm sure they could at least make the range longer, the instances are a lot bigger than the auto-launch range.

Kinda had a feeling it's an instancing/game limitation thing of sorts. Maybe disabling the auto-departure would just increase the range to whatever the maximum of not making the game explode is. 2km just seems a bit "extreme" in the scope of things.

And ideally have an option for the main ship to stay put when we wander off in the SLF instead of following.
