On planets w/ Geological signals do metallic meteorites (etc) exist?

I found I nice driving 1.0 g planet so decided to take 25 km drive to my geological surface signal target. Just to see what I'd pick up on the way.

Not a single surface target or even a faint signal.

No Outcrops, Mesosiderites, Bronze Chondrites or Meteorites. I did a couple of reloads and nothing.

So does the presence of the geological signals preclude the presence of these original types of surface signal?

Why would anyone still bother with meteorites when it's far more efficient to mine geological crystals? Nearly every system has them.

It's a good question, I might go have a look later, I was ok at finding MMs...but I do agree, if I'm farming, it'll be the crystal fields. I used to find gold outcrops (previously metallic outcrops) and MMs generally around the bases of mountains in craters or on the outside edge of the craters.

I havnt used any of the new stuff yet but i can confirm that flying around some random planet... no blue circles, nothing.

Yes they do exist. I visited a planet the other day and got some polonium from them.

Interestingly polonium was also dropping in outcrops.

I will add that im not sure if it had the geological signals.
Mainly i land at those locations as the space needles provide lots of rare materials.

Quick question.

when your out exploring and come across geysers on planetoids do you

A: have to map the body?
and then
B: land and visit it

for it to come up in the codex?

Yes land and visit and then point your composition scanner at the geysers

@ op, i have visited several geological sites and went looking for for mettalic meteorites only to have no signals spawn at all
In all cases i supercruised to a different spot on the planet where signals would spawn again

sigh I feared as much thanks for the reply

People keep telling me “it’s all so easy”, but these caveats and exceptions and gotchas are pretty annoying.

I found out about the Comprehensive Scanner after I’d done a bunch of systems that I’ve been interested in and had to go back.
And then I got a bunch of errors trying to use the CS because your choice is to have it share with another scanner or weapon or have proliferating fire groups. Either way I then made the mistake that- you know you can’t target a geyser, so I tried to scan the nav point thing, and sometimes it worked, but I hadn’t noticed that there was a fumerole in the background that was lined up and getting scanned - I’d been too busy trying to figure out how to scan or target something that was underground.

I’m out at a cluster of systems I’d scanned pre beyond. I’d found a group of 16 ELW,WW AND AW in an area less than 100ly long, as it’s a relatively short trip I thought I’d come out and map them all. Once here I though bah may as well stay here and just explore the area for the 2 weeks I’m off work. I’ve now got 61 markers on my map and still a week to go. There’s no way I’m heading in to fit another scanner and loosing a day or so’s exploration.

At least I know now not bother with geysers etc, cheers hope you have a cracking holidays

This is one of those tree falling in the woods questions...

Another poster said theyre still around, but in the planets I’ve visited since the patch, I’ve experiemced the same as you. The clusters, needles, etc around geological sites are great! But then there are none of those regular old nodes around the rest of the planet. But I was wondering if it was the type of planets I’ve visited with geo sites just don’t have them but other types maybe do?
