On Ride Music - Coasters

While I think it's really nice having coaster music on the actual trains, though no speakers are visible (just sayin' [wink]), I think it'd be so much better if you could edit the musics start and stop times. So, for example, I generally have speakers in the station playing general loading/ride theme music. When the train begins to move, it starts playing the rides 'in motion' music, which doesn't usually mix well with the general theme. Same when the train comes back into the station.

I'd propose to mix it with the current trigger section, so add a trigger to begin the train music and, optionally, another to end it. If they aren't there, then the programme would revert back to how it currently works now.

so what you're looking for is an option to start (different) in-train audio tracks from the actual trigger system, right? and then you like to select the train as triggered object and then you like to select a specific custom audio track the train should play when it reaches the trigger-position. because a speaker you can use for triggers is fixed in position and the sound volume for the entire audiotrack changes when the train rolls on...

is it that?

ok, what you can do actually is : prepare your audio track with a different software. it's far more comfortable if you have something like a time-line where you can add specific sound-effects very exact and on point. add all sounds which should happen during the ride and then use the result as audiotrack for your ride (but don't do it for long running coasters - see below).

i wish there would be a timeline tool inside the game as well. especially if you build long running coasters (5 minutes or more) the game-speed gets out of sync with the audio-track, and it's impossible to compensate such timing-problems inside PC. i was so frustrated after creating a coaster to a complicate music composition which was 15 minutes long.

up to 5-6 coaster-ride minutes incl. scenery were built beautifully in sync with the music. it took me 3 evenings to come that far and suddenly i couldn't go further cause each test ride the train position after the same time was a bit later or earlier, so i had to stop that. ❤︎❤︎❤︎❤︎ it was such a nice psychedelic mind :(

I think perhaps I've not explained myself properly. Instead of having it on the trigger system, perhaps being able to select at which times the ride music begins and ends. So you'd select whichever music you'd want to play and then have a slider where you can choose when the music begins (e.g. Twenty seconds into the ride) and then another point on the slider where you can slide it to a point where the music would stop (e.g. Two minutes into the ride).

got it. :)

elegant solution. for your problem it looks to be the quicker way as long as just one audiotrack is needed. Sadly no help for my 15 minute ride. Still think about a good workaround to fix "out of sync audio". [rolleyes]

addendum:

i like to add another suggestion / feature request to this topic - separate audio volume control element for all scenery objects having sound or are able to play selectable audiofiles. for each single object inside object properties, not for this object type inside gameplay setttings/audio. really hope that a new object property like this doesn't cost too much performance.

workaround to gain volume control by placing such scenery in different spots isn't helpful for special effects items like big fire if you need the visual in combination with a different sound.

:) please.
