As of now, I have been waiting to type this, but I feel as though people seem to react overly hostile when I mention that I am through my player faction allied with them, but that does not mean that I really wish to affiliate myself with them, as I already am debating leaving my player faction to not have to worry as much about factions such as the IED getting involved against me while I am just doing my rounds of bounty hunting and all that.

I feel I must pre-face by saying that I have no personal stake in this. I don't honestly give the slightest crap what another player does in Elite unless it directly affects me in some way. I never hunt a specific player down without good reason to do so.
However, Vail are on a Kill On Sight list in some of the player groups I associate with. And probably for good reason. I've had a run in with them myself recently at the Phigare CG. And while it was certainly one of the more interesting PVP encounters I've had in Elite lets just say it's not something I would like to repeat on a daily basis.
Corvos on the other hand I've never bumped into. I know them by reputation only, and well that reputation is nothing to be proud of tbh.
Problem is OP if you're going to associate yourself with some of the more unsavoury characters in Elite you will end up getting tarnished with the same brush. And you only have yourself to blame for that. If you don't want to be associated with them then don't be. It would seem like a pretty simple decision no?

Attacking new players in the starting system, being griefers in general. Ganking traders in wings of 4 combat ships with no attempt made to steal the cargo. They give actual legit pirates a bad name.

The thing is that my faction aligned with them after I joined it, so I'm in an awkward position as is.

Well I'm not really saying what they're doing is bad, but I also just try to not pay attention to them, when I see rookies I'll send them comms asking if they want me to help them or teach them how certain things are supposed to be done, etc.

I've never had any problems personally with Corvos, although I know of their reputation.

Funny you say that, since one of their members was gloating about how many ships they killed at the Phiagre CG and mispelled it in front of some of the CMDRs that were fighting against them. It was quite hilarious and I now can't not call them The Fail.
I had a fight with a few vail members at the phiagre bounty hunting Cg. Kicked a wing of 4 out of the haz res. Was later Interdicted by another in a Vette who was initially unwinged but had to later bail on the fight because he joined a wing and brought in back up. I tend not to stick around when I'm out numbered 4 to 1
I don't reckon you're missing much...just pop into your local Mickey D and check out who's eating the Star Wars happy meals and you'll get a rough idea
