Once again E D content predicts science: "Fungi that draws gold from its surroundings"

There have been several cases of E D exhibiting features later discovered by science. This time:

Fungal growths that draw gold from the surroundings:

"Fungi that draws gold from its surroundings has been discovered in Western Australia, stunning scientists who say it could signal new deposits.

Found near Boddington, south of Perth, the strain of the fusarium oxysporum fungus attaches gold to its strands by dissolving and precipitating particles from the environment."

:)

People forget that imagination is an important part of science, which is why science and science fiction quite often intersect in fascinating ways.

Unfortunately, too often students of the sciences are pressed into a mold and their creativity neutered; they fail to become the intrepid pioneers that we NEED them to be. Then when we encounter a REAL creative pioneer, they stand out because they are such a rarity.

Here's to imagination, science, and imagination IN science! "There are more things in Heaven and in earth, Horatio, than thy philosophy hath dreamt of."
