One Account + Two Platforms = Two Commanders?

Hey there,

I have looked for an answer to this but have found no clear answer. I play on the PC. I recently also bought ED for my PS4 Pro so I could enjoy space from my sofa. I know it's discontinued and all that. I have no ambitions on the PS4 but to enjoy a bit of space-time. However, if I link my PSN account to here (it uses the same email account) will it screw up my commander on the PC? Or will I just have a new commander on the PS4 and still have my commander on the PC?

Thank you in advance for your helpful and constructive replies :)

The situation that you describe would result in two commanders.

There is a console copy process (meant to help PS commanders migrate over to PC in light of the deprecation of Console ED) that allows you to take a one time only copy of a console commander and have that playable on PC - it is a copy though. After the PC commander is copied to PC, the PS and PC commanders progress is not linked in any way. Their progress will diverge from that point. I expect tha the PC commander would need a separate email address though - If you were thininking of leveraging this, it would be best to contact support first.

They are separate, especially so if you are playing Live on PC, as PS4 is the Legacy version. I actually use this to my advantage (I went the other direction), where my PS4 CMDRs (you can have more than one per account) ride on my PC CMDR's fleet carrier in T9s loaded with Tritium, which recently allowed me to "remote control" my carrier from deep space back to the Bubble, which required more Tritium than I had in the fuel depot. This is because I play Legacy on PC, so my different CMDRs share the same BGS and fleet carrier. Again, if you're playing Live on PC, then PS4 will be totally and completely separate in every way.

There won't be any conflict unless you have the console account copied to PC in which case it would require a different email contact, though this can be as simple as a suffix which Fdev recognises as a separate email.
The copied Cmdr my need a new name if theirs is already taken.

If you happen to be using Gmail, setting up multiple accounts at Frontier is simple. I use the following format for my Frontier account email addresses:

accountname+ed1@gmail.com, accountname+ed2@gmail.com, accountname+ed3@gmail.com

All the emails I receive from these three Frontier accounts go to: accountname@gmail.com. Gmail sees all three as the same email account, Frontier sees them as three different email accounts.

Just as an FYI for all: email subadresses are nothing to do with gmail. Any properly setup email service should work exactly the same. Relevant RFC and Wiki

Extra question... If I log on to Legacy do I lose anything on Live? Or can the two co-exist?

Thanks again.
You can potentially earn an additional 400 Arx per week with your Legacy commander. Arx and cosmetics are linked to your account, so your Live and Legacy commanders share them. The earned Arx limit per week is imposed on each commander separately. That is the only effect the two have on each other AFAIK.

Note that some cosmetics are Odyssey-only.
