One big problem with playing in Open

Hi all!
I enjoy playing in open, and the thrill of meating other commanders add some spice to the game. But what makes me log out and switch to solo is the constant "request denied" when asking for landing permission on outpost. Sitting there and spamming the request button for ages is not fun. At least implement a que system...

That will happen in high player traffic areas (around Eravate for example), try going a bit further afield. Also if you are flying a medium size ship, its more likely you will have to wait to land at outposts.

You usually find some sidey on the medium pad in there. People forget to log out when going out for a coffee / having tea / a bath etc.

This has annoyed me for ages too - just allow me to request docking and wait until a spot opens up. Hanging around the medium pad waiting for whatever it is blocking it to leave, and then hoping I'm the first to request docking is just plain daft.

Gotta say this happened a few days ago for a day or two at outposts in Open where there weren't even any other human players.
I just flew around the station for a bit though and it eventually sorted itself out. One time I switched to Solo because I got bored waiting and it resolved the issue but I wasn't under any kind of threat.
However, if it was a constant it would grate a bit.
Dunno if server issue at that time or something else.
It would stick on "Docking Request", then time out.

I've had that happen a few times, one of them was in solo so I'm guessing you're right in that it's a server issue, hasn't happened since I upgraded my network hardware either, if they're full you normally get the denied message pretty quick.

I have a steady 100 mbit/s download and 3 ms ping, so I don't think my network are the issue :)

Given that you are an 87 year old conservative Norwegian politician I would have expected worse errors ;)

I live and learn :-D

ps. Anyone seen Gro out there? I will shoot her down on sight.

Probably not, you're getting the denied message anyway so the pads are full, which is indeed annoying, I was replying to the post I quoted where it got stuck saying request docking. :)
Edit: that was supposed to have a quote, but just in case it's not obvious I'm talking to Kaare Willoch. I hit the wrong reply button, sure it is obvious but editing just for clarification.

Oh well, we're only waiting for it since December 2014, so I am sure the feature will arrive soon(TM).

I am pretty sure that once in one of the Hutton Trucker CG's I got into a docking queue, but as it never happened again, it was probably sleep deprivation. I told all my in-game friends though, so the impression must have been pretty realistic. :-D

Outposts are the major issue they are far too small, logically maybe you would allow docking and then the ship would be pulled into a storage area maybe or something along the lines.

Yeah it'd be good if you'd be auto-put into the station hangar after 40 seconds of idling on a landing platform or something. It's well annoying waiting for a player who is either trolling or is AFK to move his ass out of the way.
