One for the wishlist... A new terrain brush tool.

It would be really great if we had a brush that allowed us to select up to three existing terrain types and adjust their percentage so we could paint multiple terrain textures at once. This would make creating a natural look so much better for many players both novice and experienced. This would also mean no need any new texture sets, just mixing the existing ones as desired.

Is this actually possible in the game? Because I'd love this. It can have toggles like:
  • Random rotation
  • Random axis rotation
  • Random placement
And then you can subdivide by continent, biome, and type of plant (shrubs, trees, ground cover)

You've misunderstood. I was referring to the terrain textures rather than scenery items. With this brush we could have a more dynamic texture selection allowing us to not paint boring mono textures and then having to tinker with adding more textures at lower values. But a scenery brush would be nice.

This is a great idea! Depending on the species requirements, I definitely mix smaller amounts of terrain into the main one, and would love to just have it all be done in one go, or mostly done. A few small adjustments wouldn't be so bad.

Ohhhh. Well, what about both?

Zoo Tycoon 2 had the biome brush where you could toggle on/off rocks, plants, and trees, therefore painting forests or just painting the terrain.

Planet Zoo would be great to have this, too

That would also be really cool. I struggle with making habitats look real or at least my perception of what they should really look like. It's the ground. It's always the ground. I can have many trees, but the ground itself almost always looks somewhat barren no matter what I do and how many flowers/plants I place on it.

Anyone that has created a zoo with a height map will likely understand the issue here. Having to do an entire map with multiple layers of texture sets gets really tedious. A replacement for the auto paint brush allowing for blended texture sets is truly needed.

This post is a couple of months old now but I didn't want to begin a new topic which was the same.

Using a lot of the grass scenery which most often comes with a wet and dry version, green and brown/yellow.

I was thinking that even if we could just have a new brown/yellow grass terrain brush in both long and short growth like the existing brushes, it would do lots toward dry grass scenery looking more natural.

Yes some are definitely desert plants but they are also useful elsewhere I find :)
