One in the eye for the Feds.

About 13 weeks ago I set out on a little project to try to singlehandedly cast off the Federal yoke and bring in Imperial rule in a little backwater border system that has seen only a couple of other commanders pass through it in months.

I spent the early time building up the Imperial faction. There was a good few weeks treading water as various locks on the background simulation hit -- wars with other minor factions, expansion cooldowns, other factions having conflicts between them -- but after a few weeks I forced a war between the Imperial and Federal factions.

And I lost.

The Feds sent a capital ship, the Empire (or at least as far I saw) didn't.

So I carried on. Another war between two other factions happened in the background as I whittled down the Federal influence. I sat out other locks with a trip to SS433 and a stint as a slave smuggler until -- at last -- another Fed-Imperial conflict sprang up.

As of yesterday, we won! The system (which I shan't name) has flipped -- although it's still red on the galaxy map at the moment -- and I now have a lovely Imperial station to base from.

Really no-one's going to care one way or the other about this little frontier world joining the massed and happy ranks of Imperial Society, but I wanted to test if one pilot could do it and here we are. Hooray!

Can I be a Senator now? ;)

Good for you. I'm glad to see that one person can make a difference in the simulation, no matter how long it takes.

Did it turn into patronage? Thanks for how the powerplay ethos system is made, that actually benefits the Federation.
Lower fortification triggers, higher undermining triggers and higher bounty targets thanks to the lowered security.
Someone should give this guy a medal.

I'd have to check. I think it's a dictatorship. It's presently an uncontrolled & unexploited system.

I've not a Scooby about powerplay, so I can't comment, but fewer Feds is always a good thing. ;)

Well...there you have it! The Background Simulation is alive and well.

It would have been nicer to see you flip the system to pure independent...as that is the only mark of true freedom in this galaxy...but educating the local citizenry to the hypocrisy, authoritarianism, and duplicity that is the Federation is what is truly important!

I will temporarily turn into a double agent once the Federal Corvette is released so I can get it, but yes. All Hail the Empire!

I approve

Aww that's not true - in the empire all your base are belong to us and we do care

The system (which I shan't name)

That's too bad - I would have brought in some involuntary laborers to kickstart the economy

Can I be a Senator now?

You don't really want that - all those politics, no in light of your efforts you shall be knighted and henceforth be called "The Big badwolf77"

DO you now sell Imperial slaves? Are you near Delaine space?
