One man, his new ship, and some awesome outposts.

So I hadn't been to an outpost since the Hutton Mug CG. That does tend to happen when you're in a Clipper. I was just doing some long distance trading (thanks eddb!) going between Coriolis, Orbis, and Ocelus (Btw, I strongly recommend everyone visits Sharma (port?) in 27 b1 Cygni). Now, the Clipper is a great ship, in fact it's probably one of the best ships I've flown, but there are some things that it's just not meant for. At least, not when you don't have the money to outfit it properly. So I got a courier. I spent a long time in this ship, a few months ago. I really like docking these things. They are so fun. Only ship I boost through the letter slot with!:) It's small size makes it even funner. It also means it can dock on outposts. In quick succession, I saw: Scientific outpost, classy white and blue while still retaining the randomness of an outpost. Military outpost, with high security and a giant UA at the back. Commercial outpost, with REAL SHIPS in the halls. Pirate outpost, with eerie music and glowing skulls. These are really amazing. I really recommend you visit them once in awhile even if you have to buy a smaller ship. Thanks Frontier for these!:)

I've had the same renewed love for outposts recently. I've been out exploring. Now I'm back in the bubble I'm doing more missions. This has taken me to some lovely outposts.

Last night lifted of a pad with the sun behind me, the shadow of my ASP cast against a tower ahead of me, big orange cratered planet riding up as I 'ascended'.

Top stuff.

Go team OP!

I do love outposts, too. Won't never ever buy a ship that can't land on those beautiful installations. So my Python is the end of the flagpole to me. But right know, I've much more fun by doing courier / small cargo / smuggling missions in my Courier: the client with the highest offer decides where my next destination will be...and so on and on. I'm curious where I'm going to end up in the next weeks.

I love outposts because of the potential view. I posted this image a week or so ago, here it is again... this is why I love outposts:

I enjoy this concept, it sounds like it would be a great way to play and it is appealing to me right now because I did not have a sense of direction yet, I had been doing bounty missions and mining for profit, but both feel a bit grindy. I've wanted to explore a bit but never decided which direction to start. I like this because it's easy enough to jump system to system following a money trail.

Thanks for the idea!

Not just love for the platforms, only flown my courier briefly before a CG meant I had to jump back into a Python but that courier is just so much fun to fly. Think I'll stop trading this weekend and brush off the dust from the courier and see some platforms.

That's what I call the "buddhistic way" of playing Elite :)

If there is a unused small compartment in your vessel: fit a Discovery Scanner in there. You're going to stumble upon a lot of undiscovered systems while floating around.

Have fun!

Except military, as I learned after being scanned three times for the same cargo and losing all the reputation I had earned over a few months with the empire. :p

Yeh. I have only ever seen one so far so they're few and far between :)

They're still cool.

Hopefully one day we will have them actively play a part in conflicts.
