One of our planets is missing?

I lost two missions last night, both salvages, IIRC. One was in Alberta, but the location in the system wasn't specified, there was just that system lit up in mission blue on the galactic map.

The other was for Rodentia, and the location was Rodentia 8 C, but there was no such planet, only 7, 9, about ten planets in total. Between 7 and 9 was a B asteroid ring (though not really a ring), but that's B, not 8.

I hadn't got close enough to these outer planets to scan them yet, so I thought that might have been the problem, but I recall other missions where the target in the system map is 'unexplored' until I visit it.

Something like this happened on the [last trip to Colonia?]. There was a stop-off at the 'system of Wonders', and when I logged in and looked around, there were simply loads of planets and suns with rings, but after I crashed my Asp into a black planet (hard to judge distance) and had to rebuy, at least a half dozen stellar bodies were no longer there, and it wasn't quite so wondrous.

There hasn't been a update for at least a week, so I don't think this is a bug related to a new issue. I lost out on a weapon schematic reward, when I'm looking to improve my Aphelion, so it's be great if wasn't jumping in and out of systems, even restarting my computer, just trying to finish a bugged mission.

I just went to check the system map of Rodentia, and Planet 8 is there. It's quite hard to miss, actually!

8c is the third satellite down (the first with its own satellite)

Are you sure you were looking in the right place?

Have you got a screenshot, to see if there was a bug, you hadn't scanned it (but you should see it on the map anyway) or you had just missed it?

Yeah, I'm seeing this too. I had it a couple of times in Colonia system, where the moon Colonia Hub resides on went AWOL time after time. I also lost a couple of moons in my home system, a place I've been for 2 years straight.

It only seems to happen in EDO, and I think it has something to do with exploration data not being handed in time. In EDH, you don't need to hand in the data to persist the objects you found.

I do have a screenshot, but on the computer I use for EDO, upstairs, which isn't on yet.

I also took a screenshot of the mission section of the system map, which says, IIRC, that the location is 'unavailable'.

I get a persistent browser action in the systems map, sometimes. Maybe that's part of the problem.

There is a new function of the system scanner, as I have petitioned FD to get my inventory expanded.

In a nutshell, if you don't use the fss that was introduced several years ago, I haz yo planetz innit.

Fingers crossed, I can get this to load.

Well, this isn't perfect, but you can see that destination is not 'available'..

I don't think you did repeat yourself. You told me to use the Full Spectrum Scanner, an instrument I have never used. Now you've asked me, and you have your answer to that.

I'll have to try giving that a go, although the only time I even managed to activate it was by accident, and just as randomly manage to turn it off again. It still won't explain why a mission target isn't visible in the system map, I think.

There are only 2 ways to fully explore a system and make "visible" the planetary bodies.

1. Use the FSS - it should have the keys already bound, but you should check that.

2. Scan the Nav Beacon - it will identify all the bodies in the Nav panel (without actually "exploring" them). Then you can select your destination and Fly to it.
Once you get at about 30 ls you will automatically "explore" the body - sort of like the old ADS used to work (with the mention that you dont need to have the body targeted as you had to do with ADS)

It still won't explain why a mission target isn't visible in the system map, I think.

The fact that you didnt scan the system using the FSS (or you didnt scan the NAV beacon) IS THE Explanation.

Well. it will be the first time I have encountered this problem, and to do it twice in one go seems unlikely, but I'll keep an open mind.

That reply was to LeoBartlet, but it applies to both responses.

Bear in mind that I travelled close enough to Rodentia 7 and 7 to identify them both, but still couldn't see 8. It may have been off on a weird orbit, but even unexplored bodies have always been visible in the system map (which might seem like a bit of a cheat, but works for me, or did).

I have to admit it's an interesting tactic to open up a thread asking for help and then ignoring and/or doubting any suggestions made.
