One of the most fun experiences I've had in a game today

I've been recently trying to get back into gaming, used to love it when I was a teenager. Tried a few of the rpg type games I used to like and started thinking maybe I just don't like playing anymore. I decided to give one more game a shot and that was this one.

So today is my third day, I had gotten just enough to buy the eagle I've been gunning for at gidzengo ring when I noticed a cool slave trading mission with a reward of 40,000. I thought cool what's the catch? When I noticed I had to buy the slaves at over 10 grand a pop. I did some math and figured out I had just enough to buy the slaves and pay for the fuel to the nearest station selling slaves I could afford (about 25 ly away) I was taking a huge risk because if I was caught I would most likely be blown up pretty quickly I think and I would be back at square one with no cash and a sidewinder. It really made for a heart pumping trip, including an interdiction and the crazy slip back into gidzengo ring.

I Lined up as perfectly as I could from about 14km out, and just gunned it through the hole, the scan started on me but didn't have enough time to finish before blasted through the gate and just barely missed the inner wall. amazing! I Don't think I've ever felt such emotion from a video game before haha.

anyway just sharing my first really exiting experience, I think I've found a good career for me in smuggling and pirating some, should be a blast

Can't expect people to engage too hard with a post saying they had fun. It's clearly much more entertaining to troll the whine threads...

+rep for having fun in the game. That is the point after all :)

i was just hoping someone would disagree with me :D

Awesome story CMDR and have some rep!

Thought about so many other moments you will be want to look forward to in here, cause they put you in similar heart pumping situation...

Then no...you'll have to find them!!

Welcome!!

Welcome Commander! Sounds like you're going to fit in around here just fine. As an older gamer myself, I like that I can go a lot of different directions in this game, and not all of them require my (now degraded) reflexes to be super-sharp. Enjoy finding the things you have fun doing.

It's a nice career choice this one

If you want to make it more fun and more risky try this - slave missions last for 6 days so collect a load of thenm fopr four or 5 stations and then go off and buy 40 T of slaves and deliver them

see here

This was my attempt at it

Becuase they last for 5 or 6 days it lends itself to farming a few missions before you go for it with a massive reward and big risk, the reputation only ones are woorthwhile as well as you can get quite a big boost dropping off three missions at a station!

It is such an awesome game... there are times like this when your palms sweat, your heart beats faster and the adrenaline ruins your coordination... Just what you don't need, but it's a great ride...

Kudos to FD - it wouldn't feel like that if the overall game wasn't so immersive..

Let us know how you fare in your eagle.

Interstellar slave trading is cute, but I'm waiting for prostitutes to show up as a commodity so I can strengthen my interstellar pimp skills.

Last night I checked a Strong Signal. There were Gold floating around; a known trap.
Sure enough, two Anacondas and some small fry jumped me.
I'm in a maxed out Vulture and thought to myself: I will not run. Not this time.
The fight was awesome, I flew that Vulture like it never been flown. It screamed to me to stop hurting it.

I killed and killed and killed...

When the debris cleared, my Beamlaser cooling down and the Cannon only loaded with vaccum, I realized I was still alive.
I scooped the Gold and did an OPs check in at the nearest station for some R n R.

I've played this game for thousands of hours by now, and it still makes my heart rush at times.
No other game does that to me anymore. I guess that means it's pretty awesome :D

Ive been running away from any kind of encounter, i was ambushed in a similar manner and just nearly escaped alive. Now that ive used the 40k i got from the slaverunning, ive got a pretty good loadout on my eagle, i cant wait to get into some combat. i probably need to spend some time in the training simulator first though

The Eagle is a very good fighter and a joy to fly, but I would advice against picking a fight with anything bigger than a Cobra.
An Anaconda will kill it within seconds unless you're a very experienced player.

I survived that encounter because I know how to fight Anacondas.
The "small fry" (Eagles) actually were a bigger threat since they landed more hits on me. :)

right, im understanding that the eagle is pretty fragile, so ill still have to pick my battles. But at least now i will consider the option

Rep added for sharing your story about how you got started, always great to see more people joining the Elite world and even nicer when they share a positive story on here. Nice to read about someone having fun.

Have some rep because you are new here, and because i likely missed your post among the ocean of new posts or replied to posts that occured on this friday day time.

WELCOME to this wonderful game. This first heart in your mouth experience will be the first of many i'm sure, and even when you reach the lofty heights with much bigger ships, you can still buy a smaller ship just for some weekend fun tearing up the space lanes. This game keeps evolving though, so what you do today may not be what you are doing in a months time, and there is so many aspects to the game that you'll want to try all of it at some point. I've tried all parts of the game except piracy, for me thats the line i won't cross, but smuggling, bounty hunting, trading, mining, exploring, helping with community goals are all things i've done along the way, and most of it has been great fun.

The one bit of great advice i'll impart onto you is not to feel confined to the small area of the galaxy that you are in, when you feel you've trod water for a bit, have a bit of a look around.. or do what opened up the game for me.. i started near aiabiko/chemaku and it was my pilgrimage to Sol and then up to lave that really expanded the game for me.

Main thing is keep having fun, and if something starts to irk you a bit, try something else for a bit.. there really is plenty to be getting on with :) Its a sandbox in many ways.

Again welcome... space is big. Very big.

That sounds exactly how my first slave mission went. Barely enough credits, had to figure out where to get them, and then boosting into the station just has I heard "Scan Detected".

I've been waiting a long time for a space combat sim, and Elite has delivered immensely.

Great stuff!
