One Potential Problem: Notoriety

Here's the one problem I see with Notoriety decay:

Being that you have to be logged in for this decay to happen, I can foresee landing pads occupied by commanders who have gone AFK or AFG to wait out the cooldown. I can especially see them doing this in CG systems, to block up pads and share their annoyance.

I certainly know if I were ever on the receiving end of 20 hours of cooldown time and I didn't have 20 hours worth of other things I wanted to do in other places, I'd dock up somewhere, do anything else and go to bed and sleep it off without hesitation - and people get itchy enough when I get up to use the head and occupy a pad for 4 minutes.

I have good news for you: this doesn't work.

I ended up on the wrong side of the law Tuesday and got a murder bounty. After failing to clear it at an IFC due to notoriety I decided to go down in a blaze of glory and start killing cops. Eventually a couple Anaconda's showed up and got me, and I spawned in a detention center a few systems over. After paying the rebuy and some amount of fines and bounties (that screen is unreadable to me) I launched and made my way back home.

On the last jump I see that I'm still Wanted in my home system, where the original bounty occurred. Well damn. I took a look over at my panel and see that my notoriety is now a 3. So I boosted into my home station and changed ships (into the Sidewinder I keep there). Went out to the local RES and killed some time with it. Fun.

When I was done I docked at home, entered the hangar, and left it AFK overnight, hoping to clear it out. Woke up today, and still notoriety 3. Since then I've launched and parked myself outside the station, AFK while I "work from home." Since then notoriety has dropped to 2.

So, AFK on a pad or in a hangar doesn't reduce Notoriety.
