Proposal Discussion Online Shop Items.

I would like to start a discussion about possible additions or changes to the online store items. Please no flaming and don't get offended if someone doesn't agree with what you think.

These are directly according to the store pages.

If people would like to see certain things added to the online store please post below with what, for how much, and why.

Please feel free to quote posts you agree with but do not try and discuss or argue against other peoples points of views as it rarely leads to anything constructive outside of getting the thread locked. Which I would like to avoid since I spent a good amount of time compiling this list.

I would like to see the backers badge added to all current items in the store until the game goes live.

The reserve character name bonus to all beta and alpha packages.

The access to private backers forums added to Alpha donors.

Also the addition of four new titles corresponding with when someone started playing the game as follows.

KS = Experimental Pilot Commander "name"
Alpha = Experimental Pilot Lieutenant "name"
Beta 1 = Experimental Pilot Ensign "name"
Beta 2 = Experimental Pilot "name"

I think these changes would go a long way towards smoothing out the return on peoples investment in the game.

I would also request a moderator delete posts which are deliberately off topic or undermining of the threads original purpose since they seem to already be flooding in and serve no real purpose for furthering the topic.

Sorry, Droolguy, I fully don't get what's your take on this? If you are really into adding something costumers would like to see in shop, then there could be upgrade path from normal beta to premium beta in future. But that's about it.

Selling stuff for in-game, and other backer awards is done. You really can do it for limited amount of time, otherwise it isn't exclusive anymore.

Your idea is actually not bad, but I don't think that carrying the rewards from the Kickstarter into the store in their original form is a good idea. The rewards in the Kickstarter served a specific purpose. At some point they need to be dropped as they are no longer needed and beneficial to how Frontier want to manage the game. But for the store to offer some of the rewards in a modified form as bolt ons could be a good idea. I'm sure Frontier have considered this, so we will just have to wait and see what they come up with.

1. Your prices are misleading ... I didn't pledge £50 to be a founding member of the Elite ... I pledged £150.

2. As has been said, this has been discussed in a thread already which you started and was closed because of comments made by you (and others replying to you)

3. It is not good forum behavior to start another thread about a topic that was closed esp if it was your thread that was closed (some forums call this locking)

Added everyones views to OP so far, Maxeren reported for deliberate attempt at thread hijack.

This is only a proposal thread and is not for discussions, once again, post what you might like to see or +1 posts made by others.

The intent of the thread is to simply cultivate ideas as to what could be added to the store in the future...

Here is a direct quote from the Elite Dangerous FAQ to explain the why.

Why replace the Backer App with the Elite: Dangerous Online Store?

The Backer App was always a short term solution, to allow our backers to manage their various pledge rewards.

The Elite: Dangerous Online Store will allow us to grow the library of products that we offer over time and also provide a much wider range of payment options. It also provides us with much more flexibility to expand and improve the service in the coming months and years.

All these things you mentioned were backer awards. Backing period ended with release of first alpha build, because you don't have to take developer's word on quality of the game anymore.

At this point, you don't invest in game without knowing will it be released anymore, you for alphas and betas you play for privilege to play game early, while reporting bugs you care about, for game copy and expansions you just preorder it.

Also in previous closed thread you confuse unsuccessful KS with successful KS, but unsuccessful product launch. What people pointed out for you that year ago when KS started there were huge amount of skepticism around ED, especially in shadow of SC launch. People who backed game did because they wanted to see another Elite game made so badly. Quite a number of them did even knowing they won't be able to afford descent PC to play the game. That's called risk investment. That's why FD gave these backer rewards. And not only that - all these rewards were available for a year.

In nutshell, what's gone, gone. I couldn't upgrade to alpha, and even I can't, but I want to play ED already. But that's how life is. Don't hold grudges.

I can understand that, joining the forums today, you are upset in some way that you missed the end of the post-kickstarter-pre-online-shop pledging period by a month.

However, it is not for any forum member / pledger / backer / customer-of-the-online-store to *tell* Frontier what to include (or not) in each sale item in the online store.

They are totally different posts on the similar, not the same subject. Your donation carried with it more than just being a "founding member" it also included everything below that and their values, the difference between those values and your donation level dictates the actual value of that single item.

Please try and stay closer to the topic at hand or I will have to report you like some others for deliberate attempts at thread hijacking (I.E. Harassment).

Droolguy, one thing is when someone disagreeing with you calling you out, but another thing is threatening other forum member when he states his point of view on subject in matter.

That's not a way to get friendly atmosphere here in forums, and so far we have avoided such issues. So please, don't threaten and discuss matter calmly.

Droolguy as we previously discussed, the forum is not the appropriate place where you will get authoritative answers to either your questions or proposals regarding Frontier Development's internal pricing and selling policies.

Since you already raised similar issues in your last thread concerning the shop and those reasons I gave you for closing it, I had little option but to close this thread too for the same reasons we already discussed via PM. Please refrain from creating similar threads on this topic in future.

I repeat, contact Frontier Developments directly. That is the best option open to you.
