Only 20 odd weeks to go !!

Only 20 odd weeks to go when you think about it.. If all goes to plan ...And we could be playing Elite Dangerous !!

When you look at it this way it isn't long is it ;)

well after joining in on a year of hype/book covers/ wallpapers/ pod casts and what not I just hope it turns out to be the game that I have hyped myself up for.

keeping hyped for the release of Elite for a whole year is starting to take it's toll, screenshots of sidewinders can only keep you going for so long.

To be honest mate.. What I have spent on Elite forever, The Kickstarter collection and all the other related kickstarters I could have had a station named after me with all the rewards ....

I think I have tired eyes as well now but there is still the fantastic book collection...No Elite related kickstarter has failed yet and as this is probably the last one so I have to be all in :)

March 2014 has been slated from day 1 (I'm guessing end-March).

But I noticed in a recent Dev Diary that DB reiterated he wants to get it right, and would rather see delays than release an unfinished product.

Indeed. After a wait of twenty years (Frontier was my first and only Elite game - I never got the next game) we're down to a matter of weeks. :)

More like 16 weeks isn't it ?

Seriously? I thought this was a year ahead.
I hope the stations will be detailed as in your shopping/mission spots like in Freelancer since there won't be any true planet landing in first person.
Hm, I just realized Freelancer had not only shopping spots but real Mass Effect like sequences for missions, will we see that kind of detail or is this too for expansions?

So beta 2 is on feb and gama is on march right? and Gama is where our progression will be saved for release?

Kickstarter requires projects to estimate a timetable for delivery, but for the past several months Frontier have been backing away from the goal to release in March. They're now talking about quality goals rather than time goals, or in other words "it'll be done when it's done".

The alpha was released on time, but personally I reckon we'll see the gamma in April or May. I'm starting to agree with those predicting a launch in September, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the original game.

And I would agree with that. The Alpha phase can take as long as it likes until they are happy with the way things are proceeding, both FD and the Alpha/DDF people.

I may be wrong on this but Gamma is a phase I had never heard of before this game but essentially Gamma starts when the game is released to the public, after the Alpha and Betas are concluded. In essence, every game you have ever owned is in Gamma once you bought it, unless it was an early access title.

I've only ever seen references to them running on schedule ?

They sort of shifted the goal posts a little in that the full retail release became a gamma release ....which means a full release but for early backers only, but other than that I think they are on schedule still, aren't they ?
