Only 48 units of Lavian Brandy available. I need 50!

Geez unlocking engineers becomes a super tedious hoop jumping contest. I feel like a frickin dancing monkey who has a sadistic overlord playing mind games with me. Thats two engineers Ive been trying to get to today and I just cant.

Cant unlock Lee Cheung because I need to trade in 27 more markets. Yet when I sold the gold which I bought in another system. The number of markets it says Ive traded in stays the same!

Now this! Its utterly infuriating. Hear me space gods! I curse you!

Im just gonna go play some Cyberpunk now.

If you don't enjoy the superfluous extra trips to fill in the remainder required, purposefully implemented by devs to pad your 'gameplay', then you are simply enjoying ED wrongly.

Also, can I haz your stuff?

;) Yeah, it's irritating game design. Get it over with, move on and try to forget it. Like one does with all painful things in life.

Why does it have to be so tedious with the engineers?

FD game designers believe time spent == gameplay. Pad the time required and the gamer gets more gameplay! (y)

Well I'm not quitting the game. I do enjoy the game but the enjoyable parts thus far are only possible if i do x, y and z parts which I dont find enjoyable. I'm over it. Just needed to vent and maybe play something else for a little bit.

I feel ya. The Engineers are best approached like a large chore. Bite off a piece here and there, and walk away when the irritation becomes too noticable. Return later when your patience reserves have replenished.

I don't know, for someone who joined the forums in 2014 the OP has a distinct lack of knowledge of even the basics of the game, honestly don't know if he is genuine or just trolling us.
I bought the game when it was in beta. Played for a short bit and stopped. Didnt come back for any serious play time until recently. So sue me. This game has alot of knowledge required to do anything and Im still learning.

Perhaps look up one of the Ceremonial Teabaggers for help with your engineering '50' - the game doesn't permit you to buy more of a rare if there is any in your cargo. but if someone is along to help the problem goes away!

OP, you are allowed to make more than one trip.
The refresh for rares is ten minutes, so long as you don't have any in the tank, so you can teabag yourself if you're quick enough. Otherwise it's two trips. At least it's a boom and not 4.
The number of markets used will increase, but it takes a few minutes for the servers to sync. The best way to do it, is buy one tonne of anything cheap at station A, then sell it at your next destination. A loss doesn't matter. It really won't take you long if you apply yourself.

Also, can I haz your stuff?

Damn you!

Thanks. It's a great game. Hopefully they add all the cut content.

Now back to this game. Why does it have to be so tedious with the engineers? Also how long till these markets refresh their supply?
They refresh every 10th minute of the hour once you no longer carry the 48. You need to hand in the 48 then return for the remaining 2.

Yes, it's more tedious than it needs to be. Yes, the 50/5/500/5000 numbers with unlocking engineers are obviously arbitrarily chosen without any thought into why they were chosen. Yes, it would have been just fine if it has been 10 required for just one run. No, very few people here care that much and will defend it. No, you won't get much sympathy. No, you'll probably just get told to "don't do it". No, it's possibly never going to change. No, suggesting it could change with ideas how tends to get little traction.

And yes, you're not the first to point this out. Possibly a huge number have thought similarly to you. But still... All of the above.

The good thing is, you "only" need to do this 50 rare run three times. Only...

Enjoy it. I've done it 9. It never got more fun after the first run. Weird that.

Just get it done and forget about it. Lots more similarly tedious gathering to come for you yet.

PS cp2077 is a really nice change of pace. I'm loving it.

Engineering unlocks should be looked on as additional tasks or sidequests, like in D&D/LOTRO type games.
Rare commodities... Rare kinda self explanatory. If you have any in your cargohold, more wont respawn til you deliver what you have.

People will haul stuff from one market to the other for hours daily to earn credits, or to repair station, or to ensure their favourite superpower wins CG, or whatever reason but when engineer requires max two trips, then it's tedious and game forces them to grind. Sigh...

Regarding the brandy, go and drop that lot off with the engineer and when you get back to pick up the rest, the allocation should have refreshed enough to allow you to do that. And yeah it is irritating, no argment there at all.
or … if you have a fleet carrier you can transfer it to there and then go pick up some more. When you have enough you can stock up from your carrier and then visit the engineer.
